For those who don't know, Greg is (supposedly) the chief football writer for The Australian.

This is great news for us. Greg has no idea at all so this gives me even more confidence heading into 2008.

I personally dont tihnk we will finish near last, but it's hardly suprising that we are getitng picked to finish down the bottom.

We've lost our number one midfielder and most inspirational leader.
We've lost arguably the best coach of the last 20 years.
We now have a first time coach.
We have a host of players that will need to play good senior footy who's only positive is "potential".

Let's hope he is wrong.

I don't know if I completely agree with this....

You don't have to, but consider.....

3 straight bottom 5 finishes
Poor teamwork, sheparding ect
Poor efforts at 1%ers
Poor accountability
Poor skills
Next to last in tackling last year
Always out-numbered out on the wings
Kepler played down back when we needed a forward and he was in-form

a lot of it is gameplan related, poor planning, not enough emphasis at training

young players found it hard to communicate with him, get their ideas across

I agree he was not at his best, but have you considered perhaps the players simply haven't shown the heart and dedication required once you cross the white line?

It's very easy to find a scapegoat, I'm hoping this scapegoat proves the right one.

I'm over excuses.

Losing Hird is counter balanced by the loss of Sheedy.

I think we'll gain more from Sheedy not being there than actually losing Hird.

Sheedy's tactics, game plan and training methods have been archaic over the past few years and he cost us a number of games last year.

Denhan is a complete fool anyway and how you can pick us to finish last when you have Richmond, Melbourne and Carlton there is completely ridiculous.

What absolute rubbish. Can you explain this a little further please? How do his methods go from being at a level required to win flags to being "archaic" in the space of a couple of years.

He may not have been able to communicate with the younger generation, but the day footy becomes about letting the kids bring in their ideas and have a say as opposed to having a coach demand what's going to happen, is the day we become a Chris Connelly led Freo.

I'm not sure anyone was complaining about Sheedy's gameplan and tactics when we were sitting in the eight last season, having beaten allof the previous years top four.

We need to look at the players' dedication, not the previos coach.

I think Adelaide will really struggle this year particularly considering they have now lost Biglands for the year. It would not surprise me if they finished last.

A team including McLeod, Edwards, Goodwin, Rutten, Thompson, Burton and Basset wont finish last. They will slide given the off season moves and no Roo but id be looking at say Richmond/Melbourne or even the Dogs yes the Dogs..

people forget we have the best forward in the afl and one of the best defence. Our midfield is getting better every year.

Who are you talking about here ?? I was pretty sure J.Brown still played for Brisbane, not to metion Pavlich, Riewoldt and Fevola.

The problem you might have with your defence is that by the time your midifeld is any good - your defence will be in taterrs as Fletcher and Michael have 2 years left at best....

Did you watch any of our games last year?

Did you see the selections on big grounds like the G?

Did you see us 48 points up against Carlton and then moving Fletcher up forward and not closing the game down?

Did you see the non selection of Bradley in favour of Johns?

The list management - Bolton, Heffernan, etc.

The game has changed dramatically in a few years - Sheeds was still on the 90's gameplan.

Have you noticed how teams like the Hawks and North systematically beat us? How we play chip footy against there half back flood?

You were going Ok until you brought up Fev and the B-lose!! Ha ha ha. Ya just couldn't help yourself, could ya?!?!?

I think he was referring to our Forward LINE. We have Lloyd AND Lucas. :D Who's Fev's foil??

I watched everyone of our games. Kepler Bradley, let's not start.

We have differing opinions on what's good and what's bad so let's not turn this into a slug fest. Our results last year exceeded my expectations. They were well below my wants.

I am looking forward to a new era under Knights.

Lloyd has been a great player - but Carlton bias aside as I am not a Fevola fan by any stretch I would rate Fevola above Lloyd at this stage of their respectice careers. Having said that overall Lloyd has been a much more accomplished player than Fev is ever likley to be, particulary taking into consideration attiude and team orientated acts.

Similary I feel that Lucas is a better player than Lloyd as we speak and that he doesn't always get the accolades he deserves - is unfortunate to have played in an era with the likes of Brown , Riewoldt, Carey, Riweoldt and Pavlich or else would be regarded much more highly. He is not quite in their class but not far from it. Biggest weak ness of both Lloyd and Lucas is they can't take a pack mark - very reliant on good service from the mids.

We're talking about this season - not 2011.

Pretty difficult concept to understand, I know.
