Just wondering why Tivendale wasn't out there for the Tigers on th weekend. Did a search on Tivendale in the Richmond forum, to see if there was any talk, to which I read a whole heap of bagging, saying he is no good. Now I don't watch him week in week out, but I do see probably 1 in 4 games, and it seems in those ones he does alright, because I am yet to see enough visual evidence that Tivvers is no good.

I have him in my Superleague side, that is the only reason why I was wondering, and despite what Richmond supporters think, Tivendale goes ok, in my Superleague side, that would make mince meat out of the Richmond side, and Richmond can't fit him in, and he is in my top 10, sitting 8th, scoring 86.7 points on average, which isn't top line, but it isn't the dud the supporters keep going on about. Yeah stats aren't everything, but out of the side all together mmm, I don't get it:rolleyes:

What.....his family likes him?:D

He goes okay....just long been the whipping boy for disgruntled Tigers supporters.

What's demoralising is that in years gone by, Tivvo has been my whipping boy and the first one l'd like to see gone. Now, things havent changed too much because he still frustrates the hell out of me, but there are now about 8-9 guys who l want gone before him.

You got it, Wally. A sad but true state of affairs...the guy simply commands a game these days as we have far worse players out there battling for a kick!

Tiva should not be allowed to short pass , handball , run more than 8 metres , or bounce the footy ever!!!

How many times has this happened
Tiva breaks free richo is 80 metres away
Richo makes a great lead
Tivendale PUTS HIS HEAD DOWN AND HAS A BOUNCE,TIVA AVOIDS A TACKLER.... Richo is now standing next to tivendale furious after making 542 leads... Tivendale winds up on his trusty left and kicks it directly to richos opponent whose gasping for air inside the richmond forward 50!

What do you mean 'these days', Goldy. Tiv has been in our best 15 players for his whole career. He has also been the whipping boy all of this time due to the 'Mark Waugh' syndrome - he always looks like he should be doing more. But I can tell you that there is nobody on our list who prepares themselves better for AFL football than Tiv. If all of our players had his work ethic we would be a lot better team. His self confidence is his biggest problem.

When you perform a clanger, or do the things youy suggest he does, then his points would be down in his Champion Data scores, to which they are not. In conclusion, if any player is not in the top 20 of the league, which Tivendale is not, they have faults, every one of them.

What I have found from Greg that he consistently gets the scores I am happy with. However, I have Matthew Egan for Geelong, great last week with 151, then crap with 14, or something ridiculous like that. I have Damon White, who the week before that got 23, but th week before that got 171, both the Davey boys I have in my side, and they have got as low as 29, yet score over a 100 points, especially if I leave them out, to which I must contemplate with Alwyn this weekend. Croad is up and down, Dale Morris, David Mundy, Corey Jones and Martin Mattner all are guilty of the same inconsistency at times. Greg is more stable, more reliable, although the others have more natural talent, and can turn it on, when the feeling is right, Greg is what someone else said, a tireless worker, who was a dedicated Collingwood supporter all his life, and was picked up by Richmond. Collingwood, especially in his early days, showed interest, but Greg is a very loyal person, and it just irks me to see these ungratful Tiger fans, bagging one of the better things going for them.

Agreed 100%

And the key line is: "he always looks like he should be doing more"

Kyusss=Knobhead

Well maybe shouldn't have used 'these days". Maybe more a reference to him being most people's scapegoat...and worsening.
To be truthful, I've never had any issue with him getting a game. Contrary to what many think, he wouldn't have survived this long if he didn't have some semblance of ability. His work ethic...as you point out ...puts most others in our team to shame. The disposal is questionable, but name we one guy in this current line-up you could deem skillful. Your Bowdens and Deledios turn it over just as much!

What's the "A" for? Airhead. Go back to your fantasy league moron. Can't wait till we play your mob again. Only way you'll win is if Tivendale is in our side.

the day this dud is nowhere to be seen is the day richmond fc finally arrives back to where it should be - success

for a guy who is a receiver and doesnt get tagged his stats are pathetic, foley and deledio are getting the main attention and are still making him look 2nd rate

he is a trier and i give him credit for that but just not good enough

simple!

Very true. He is from an era that we are trying to leave behind.
I cop it left, right and centre about Deledio being overrated, but get 2 senior class mids into our side and suddenly you can't tag everyone. It frees Lids up to cut loose.
I just keep waiting for him to take a game apart, he has threatened....
Tivendale's career is summed up by the 'dropping the ball' decision against Brisbane in the last 40 seconds.

The sooner we lose him the better, we will get nowhere with him, yet some of the people on this board don't seem to understand it.

With the physique he has, Tivendale should be a weapon in the midfield. The bloke has legs like tree trunks and very good upper body strength, but he has no mongrel or aggression whatsoever. No will to rip someone's arm out of the socket because he refuses to be held in a tackle...it's like he's out there with an aim to be held tightly by strong men as often as possible (not a shot at his sexuality despite how it may look). Look at Foley...he just refuses to be caught in a tackle, and if he is, he's already 5 secs ahead on someone to give it to. Tivendale just doesn't have the same never say die attitude, or the smarts and awareness Foley does. Tivendale's own tackles are the supreme example of a useless stat - he never nails anyone and seldom causes a spillage or turnover.

Tivendale has a very good, penetrating strong left foot, but the lack of intelligence in refining it to his and our advantage is obvious. Bullet passes at the ankles of forwards or straight over their heads instead of well weighted balls which allow a margin of error at both ends...overcooked, slow runs to nowhere, all too often caught to the point of holding the ball in a tackle because he can never be smart enough to just squeeze out a kick under pressure, and he is typically a lousy set shot compared to when he's on the run...i.e. yet another senior midfielder with one-dimensional and all too rare goalkicking ability.

I'd much rather see a kid getting half his possessions - and learning from them - than watch Tivendale going up and down in the same spot for another season or two. We played the toughest away ground of all last week, where senior midfielders who can run all game are essential, yet we really didn't miss him one iota.

He's not going to be part of our finals plans...let's get a smart young player with the right competitive attitude in his position and let him grow to realms Tivendale doesn't even know exist.

We have almost half a dozen youngsters that potentially fit the bill.

hey goldie dude....still owe you a pint dude.
IMO...tiv is a perfect 4 games a year player, when the shit hits the fan. RIght now he is a player that shit when the shit is hittinf the fan.
I am pretty certain that the only thing that keeps him at tigerland is that he is pretty much a reincarnation of an Eagleton, and history suggests, that TW wants at least one Eagelton in a TW side and will move heaven and earth to get him.
Its either that or TW knows that alot of tigerheads think like yourself and he can play a dud in the side with minimal angst, and not have to deflect questions on why we tanked games for numer 1 draft pick;)

Under no pressure he is a top kick, pity in todays game it's always under pressure.

So frustrating. A guy of his size and strength, with his kicking ability and pretty good pace should be dominating in the middle.

Instead All our under 21's are thrown to the wolves in the midfield while tivendale hangs off the packs for cheap possies.

Yeah supercoach stats really tell the whole story...
