Thomas was in the mix if our second child was a boy. Top name.
My wife and I both liked the idea of traditional names for kids, bogans be damned. Only problem was our friend group had almost every classic traditional boy's name (incl. Thomas) taken already. Ruled out a good 50% straight up.

Tom, all are guaranteed to have Mummy issues. The name people chose in the 70's/80's when their friends had already cornered the Mathew, Anthony and Christopher market (including Mark and David) . Not very flexibly for nicknames (Tommy and????) and just beige all round. Very much the domain of people who get excited when the shares they're holding in a biotech fund jump from 5 cents to 6.5 cents.

The lack of criticism of the name Tom leads me to believe that the majority of you have vanilla names like Andrew, James, Kelly or Sarah.
