You'd have to think Griffin is partly insurance and partly they think they can help him get better.
Last year, we played Sandi at 90% for the first half of the season and eventually he wore out for the second half. Zac Clarke is another season away from being fully ready.
So if you think we'd have to play a second ruckman, its line ball as to whether its Griffin, Bradley or Clarke.
Collingwood may have helped redfine the second ruck with their use of Leigh Brown last year and their might be a lot more teams play a utility for a second ruck -- with the caveat you need a dominant midfield.
This might actually suit Bradley. I'd suggest Bradley would be as good as Leigh Brown if he were playing at Collngwood. He kicks a fair few goals does the hipless one.
If anything the Collingwood use of Brown was similar to our use of Jonno (and Gilmore) over the last few seasons and will further suit him if we continue to go down that path or if the Pies have redefined the role as you put it even though we've done it for years.
