Reports are in that Griffiths has injured his shoulder playing for Coburg, any reports on the diagnosis?

I hope it's minor:(

fantastic
Yep awesome hey?
But Gumbleton had injury problems forever and looks like he's found his feet now. I don't think anyone expected Griffiths to contribute anythign this year.

Personally i agree. We wanted him to get his body right for next season.

But

A lot of people on this forum had way to high expectations on him this year. People would've been calling him to play in the 1's next week if he was uninjured and ran out the match well :o
A lot of pressure will be on the kid in the future especially with his body :thumbsd:

Put the kid in rehab and let him build up body strength and get his shoulder right, this would allow us to elevate Gourdis for the rest of the year and provide us with a good opportunity to see if he can cut it.

Overheard a trainer saying McGuane could be in some trouble with a knee.
Without trying to sound cruel but that would do just as well. Rather than waiting until round 11 to elevate the Goo we could do it now and then look at someone like Contin for round 11.

Yep, we've got to be prepared to be patient with Griff. Gumby is in his 4th year and only just getting continuity. If Griff is tracking similarly three years from now we will be happy.

Umm, despite the disclaimer, that doesn't actually sound real good RT. :o

Don't have an issue with the idea of Griffiths being put into mothballs if his shoulder is still fragile, the kid is just starting out. Don't think we need to be wishing ill, for the sake of a rookie elevation, on someone like McGuane, who despite his flaws, generally does tend to have a crack. All the best to Luke with the knee, and hope it's not to serious, like Nason earlier in the year.

Bu the way, I assume "the Goo" was playing on either Watts or Miller today, both who scored multiple goals for Casey?

I don't wish injury on any player but as the old saying goes, "Out of adversity comes opportunity" so if what was posted about McGuane being in trouble with his knee is accurate then it at least gives us the opportunity to see what Gourdis can do 5 weeks earlier than we would have been if no-one got injured.

I don't know what everyone can see in Gourdis that the club can't see?

Rookie drafted in 07, delisted in 08 then re drafted on the rookie list....again, missed a chance to be elevated again this year and was overlooked in favour of Polak. Surely if this 21yr old VFL footballer had something he would have made it onto the list by now????

We have a plethora of "potential" key backs of similar size.

And I really hope Griffiths is okay. I was surprised that we drafted him considering his injury history and hope this just a minor setback.

We drafted him in PSD in 2007 delisted and rookie listed in 08.

Not sure if you're aware but Gourdis has been battling depression for the past 12-24 months and yet despite this he has still managed to show enough to keep his place on the list. As it is he has arguably been our best performed KPD this year but due to the club making the wrong decisions with regards the rookie elevations he hasn't been able to get a chance this season.

As for a 21 year old having to have made it by now, I point you to M.Barlow and J.Podsiadly, 2 players that were regularly overlooked in recent times but have finally got their chances as 23 & 28 year olds. In other words Gourdis still has time on his side.

Prowler you need to seriously watch him play and see how he is going. I have seen him about 4 times this year in defence and he has been really good every time. He stands off his man because he is lightening and draws the kick in then spoils. Seriously this guy could tear FB apart.

I think he was called as a top 10 pick in his draft year by some but due to offield issues no one decided to take a punt.

Would love to see him come in next week...

Yeah well that probably has more to do with the poor state of our list rather than his talent.

Best KPD? Where in the VFL against second tier players?

Perhaps you need to send the club an email and let them know about their wrong decision then.

How many times have you seen him live this year? I've seen him around half a dozen times this year and each time he has been mighty impressive and given the lack of consistent form shown by the blokes in the ones then yeah he has arguably been our best performed KPD this year.

I want to know a few things about his rehab getting back into footy.

1- His first game, he plays half a game for Coburg Reserves.
2- Following week a late withdrawal from reserves, didnt play seniors either. No game that week.
3-Following week resumes first game in the seniors
4-Following week (this week) plays seniors and (appeares) to re aggravate shoulder injury.

Im no medic, but it does appear rushed mismanaged rehab.

Hopefully its not to serious. Good to see he kicked a couple of goals and hopefully this injury doesn't kee him off the ground for to long. I agree with the posters above that this year we should just focus on getting his body right and only give him a couple of games at Coburg if he is 100% over his injures and match-fit. If not, then why rush him.

Dr Diagnosis is back in the house. Seriously, you and I know nothing but I would say its handled just fine. THe ressies schedule would be about catching up fitness from his pre-season, not finding form.
