Has gone unnoticed. Was one of out best, playing a solid tagging role on Dal Santo. o-one has really mentioned it and id just like to point it out. Another Young blue who has taken a big step up in 2008!

WOW. I like your style. Since i got a grill for starting a new thread last time i will just say that Jamison is once again my fav player. Pfieff i still think u are ACE

I thought he was a little disappointing.

It seems standard practice for our kids to "learn" in tagging roles.....Im not sure it suits Grigg......I think he has a good attacking side to his game and would like to see him get some freedom. Seems he will be able to read the play and find the pill naturally....perhaps they want to teach him the defensive to football.

Who am I to disagree with the prmiership players that make up our coaching panel

haha, now got a new favourite; mr. dennis armfield of course, but i still dont mind the odd joe anderson, or david ellard floating around.. :)

Must say, didn't like Grigg for a while. He was talked up, but I didn't see his potential to be honest. Thought he would be in and out of the side, but never make it ala Edwards.

However, over the past month/s, I have really come to like Grigg. I love the way he goes about his footy, and he seems to back himself which is good. I can see him going on to be a good player for us for many years, and I can see him retiring a favourite at Carlton. Premature perhaps, but theres something about him which says he'll make it.

Tagging star players always means you'll be in the play. That's the logic as much as anything. Kids can get often lost out on the ground, and this way they don't.

I have a lot of time for Grigga and hope he becomes 100+ game star for our club. He is more composed these days and will actually kick the ball rather than always wanting to handball it off to an experienced teammate (the handball bit may have come from his first game against the Dees last year when he was run down from behind twice whilst holding onto the footy for too long????)

Thats exactly how I see having a young player playing against tha quality opposition in a run with role. They learn how to run, where to run and position yourself at the stoppages with deft bumps and manouvres to get away from tight situations and break tags.

Gibbsy said he learnt a hell of a lot playing against Judd last year by the way he presented himself and ran to position.

Ratten started as a BP and played there in the 93 losing GF, 2 years later won a B&F in a premiership winning season in the centre.

Heh. Nice memory. And the thing was there was no way anyone would have known he would become a 3 times B&F centreman while he was down in the BP (I did like how he played at the time, but had no idea how good he was). Just goes to show - tomorrow's champion might be some kid minding a small forward today.

It might take you to the play but dosnt ensure your focus is winning the ball. I would like to see him in a more attacking role trying to win the pill....its what I think he is suited to doing

l thought Ratts was a good player in the BP and had no idea he was going to be a legend of the club. Sometimes its easier to have the younger players set a task and let them concentrate on that and base their performance on ths rather than saying go out dominate like you did at junior level. Grigg was a goalkicking on-baller / HFF in the TAC Cup, just doing apprenticeship nicley at the moment. He will be given more opportunties in due course, Fraser Brown had serve an apprenticehsip as a HFF until he swapped roles with Diesel in 95.

Decent game by Grigg and a pretty good start to his AFL career thus far. Really needs to cut out the floaters, up and unders, blind bombs into 50 and rushed kicks that seem to be a feature of his game. Otherwise I'm fairly pleased.

i honestly thought he struggled early on del santo but he fought back hard and looks to be a good player for the future, hes got a bit of mongrel in him too eg start of game

His run with roles have been pretty good for a young guy....he can learn a lot and seems to get under the opposition skin. The aspect of the game he probably needs to improve is his composure and decision making, seems to really crap himself at times along with Russell.

Other than that, I don't mind him. When he's been given the opportunity to play a more attacking role he has done well ( west coast last quarter from memory)

He stuck to his task on Del Santo ( who is playing with a few demons of his own currently).

But, for mine, I see Grigg as a natural attacking type footballer. Perhaps an attacking wingman might be the ideal role.
Still, if the coaching staff want to teach him not to panic when he gets the pill the best way about it is to play on guys who seem to have all the time in the world. It an old tactic that works, look at Bryce Gibbs' recent form.

He's actually lucky to have not been dropped. He and Russell have not deserved all the games they have played in the seniors. Having said that, I am not in charge and have faith in the people currently in charge so good luck to them.
