bit confused about your post re big Will and the gc concept. So was emma quayle saying that if we delist will and gc sign him as an uncontracted player, we then receive a compo pick?? Or is it just that we'd have an extra spot on the list so obviously get another pick right at the end of the draft??? That would seem pointless as we'd obviously get that late pick even if we traded hi
as we'd have to replace him on the list anyway.

Surely it can't be will plus harbrow compo pick for faulks (assuming he's the prelisted player) and pick 44. That seems out of whack.

Again it wasn't clear from the article or from her tweets. From what I gather once Minson is delisted the GC can sign him as an uncontracted player and you get a compo pick. You then trade that compo pick to gc and they give u back 44 and prelisted player

I tweeted to her to correct me if I was wrong and she hasn't responded. So either I was right with this hunch or she's ignoring me

I can't see anything in the gc list rules from the afl that suggests clubs get further compensation if a second uncontracted player is signed by gc....do you have a link?? If so, it's essentially the afl compensating the club for the player, rather than the suns as they would have to in a trade. The suns then give us a win (ie pick 44) for doing them a favour by delisting will. Very sneaky if that is the case......

Yes that was the other stumbling block - signing a second uncontracted player from the same club. The article was pretty messy - in the headline they mentioned Hawthorn after Josh Hill but had no details in the article itself. I guess we will know by tomorrow as gc have to sign any uncontracted players by tonight
