MELBOURNE'S spring carnival has been rocked by the revelation that a feature race winner has returned an irregularity to arsenic.

Racing Victoria chief steward Terry Bailey said the identity of the trainer and horse could not be released until the reserve sample had been tested.

The trainer has already been notified.

The Sunday Herald Sun understands the arsenic irregularity comes from the Moonee Valley night meeting on AFL Grand Final eve, at which four Group races were run.

Some high profile runners potentially involved if the HS "understanding" is right.

From the Stewards reports for the night:

Pre-race blood for post-race analysis:

Race 2 – Inablitz
Race 4 – Waltzes
Race 8 – Delayedreaction (NZ)

Post race samples from following horses:

Race 1 – Zamorar, winner – R2 – Born To Rock, winner – R3 – Miss Stellabelle, winner – R4 – Definitely Ready, winner – R5 – Dream Pedlar, winner – R6 – Sister Madly, 2 placegetter - R7 – Chase The Rainbow, winner – R8 – Ginga Dude (NZ), winner

The group races on the night were 3, 5, 6, 7.

So our possibles are:
Miss Stellabelle
Dream Pedlar
Chase the Rainbow

Sister Madly wasn't a winner, so we can discount her if the article is correct.
