My God did you guys watch that complete and utter tosser. How cocky is that bloke. With Sheedy and this bloke at the club GWS are fast becoming one of the more annoying teams.

Nothing will make me happier than to see them go down the Freo path and become a joke of the AFL.

Agree came across as a Complete Prick - Was he like this at Collingwood?

The bloke looked pissed, such an cocky prick. They are offering Ward 5 mill for 4 year, that just shows how desperate they are to get a half decent player becuase no one wants to go there. Port Adelaide will average more fans at their home games then GWS. I hate them already.

Ward is barely worth 1 million for 4 years. What is the story with that offer anyway?

Make a huge offer to an average player, leak it, and voila, you've just turned a sellers' market into a buyers' market.

Crude, but it might just work for them.

Couldn't it also have the effect of causing players to think "well, they've got their big money spent, I won't bother showing interest, because they can't afford to may everyone that much", especially if they are a better player than Ward and would therefore be expecting to be paid more than him?

They've got an extra $1m per year in the salary cap, and, if they're anything like GC this year, a lot of their players will be young draft picks so on not much money. GWS will still have enough money to splash around. And it might plant the seed in some players' minds that "hey, living on falafel's might actually be kinda cool" .

That offer has to be bogus. Full stop. I cannot even fathom why they would offer so much to a relatively unproven B grader (at best). Scully would make more sense because it's obvious he'll be a leader and a superstar. Boggles the mind, if I was Callan I'd sign on the dotted line so fast it'll leave Delorean-esque skid marks.

I only heard this on the radio, and he sounded like a w***er. It was lip service directed to players that may be considering joining them, as well as potential sponsors and supporters that may have been watching. That now makes about 10-12 clubs that plan on winning at least one premiership within the next 4-5 years.

What a smug prick, dunno if its true but a lot of Brions' posters blame him for their list being in disarray.

I think he was behind getting Fev, but having said that I think was also on board when Brisbane won their flags not to mention that he was the genius behind getting Buckley to Collingwood. Would be one of the more sought after people in footy for his role imo; + was with us in 1990 as well.

Did sound like a w***er.. But he was correcting in saying they plan to win a cup in 5-6 years because that is there best chance.

Cant believe the money they are offering these kids 7 million over 6 years like wtf? I dont want to know what they are offering daisy and pendles! But hopefully this will take up to much room in there cap to snag them in the comming years

Firstly, the 10% extra salary cap allowance, and a merge with Fitzroy had more to do with those three premierships. Secondly, Nathan Buckley was the reason he was able to get to Collingwood because he only signed a one year contract, and that was the team he wanted to play for. Gubby Allen is the reason that Brisbane is in a diabolical state after recruiting Fevola, Raines, Clarke, Buchanen, and Maguire.

Played the latter part of his career for match payments and went on to help us win our only flag in half a century by getting deals done and getting the players in that we needed. Belted an Essendon runner or trainer at 1/4 time in 1990 and broke his hand. Was a good servant of our club.

All very true, was still an up himself w***er

Without being an up himself w***er though he wouldn't have had the gall to sign Buckley under the nose of Greg miller (?) and north

Just on what the guy has done, i'm 95% sure the dude had nothing to do with fev - i also am quite sure he was incredibly important to brisbane's success and that A LOT of very respected people think incredibly highly of him. Also brisbane's list is will be quite good in a few years, if they hang onto people.

With that said, came across as a complete and absolute w***er.

The only part of your post I liked.

What comes to mind when I think Gubby Allan is kicking across the face of goal to lose us a game at Western Oval with Jim Edmond making a stupid face at him.

Did some good things at Collingwood for a while, but I always remember him saying our list is poor and we will be down the bottom for a number of years just before he left. He was right, but he was the cause, just like he was at Brisbane.

I reckon he and Terry Wallace should work together as the List Management Gurus.

Credit where credits due, he definetly played a big role in brisbane's success. Most people involved with the lions would tell you that. Can't take away someone's achievements just because they come across as a w***er.

He was a genius behind getting Buckley but he didnt do that in the spirit of the game, we dont care though as we got the best player to have ever played in the black and white. By that we also knowing what he is capable of, so who could easily be doing dodgy agreements now. Also he is kidding himself if he thinks GWS can win a flag in the next 5-6 years, they will be lucky to make the 8 in their first five years.

Allen might not be as self satisified as he was yesterday after today the Brisbane Lions were found guilty of exceeding the total player payments for the 2010 season, and the rumour is it the problem was surrounding a dodgy deal done between Jonathan Brown and Allan.

The deals involve a two-storey unit at Noosaville, which Brown bought from a company owned by the Lions' football manager Graeme Allan and later resold to a trust that had the club's recruitment manager as a trustee.

Brisbane were fined a massive amount of $21,000.:p:eek:

AFL imposes 21k sanction on Brisbane Lions for 2010 breach of TPP rules. Lions voluntarily disclosed breach and club co-operated fully.
