Sammy's Guitar Set-up

Great dude and knows his stuff

http://www.sammyssetups.com/

Only just dropped my Ernie Ball Musicman bass off to him last week as the A string was buzzing from the 8th fret upwards - It's ten years old so he's gonna give it a once over at the same time..

He setup my old bandmate's Dan Electro 18 months ago and it was so much better to play after that

Cheers for the recommendation. Can you give a general figure as to how much he charges? Not really looking for the works in terms of set up as the frets look in good nick, I imagine it's just the neck alignment that's the issue which I'd think is a quick tweak to somebody with the know how.

He did a resto job for me a while ago, very good work.

I usually go to Cranbourne music near Melbourne Central

How much roughly does a setup at Cranbourne Music cost?

Not looking to get ripped off for what I think is an easy neck adjustment. Provided it's not anything more sinister how much would you guys say I'd be out of pocket (no need for new strings, pickup care, fret job etc.)

I can't remember but I think around 80-100

Any good recommendations on the south/South East side? I usually fine tune the truss, action and intonation myself but a month or two ago I added another axe (schecter km-6. Schecter have nailed it this time) and it wasn't set up too bad from factory, set up for speed with a nice low action but since I have promoted it to my new full time C# guitar it naturally got a bit of fret buzz down low. I started correcting it myself but I was starting to lose the silky action so probably time to get a pro to look at it.

When I buy stuff from bricks and mortar shops it's almost always from Five Star at Ringwood. They do setups but they're never too keen when you ask about them. I think they just do general ones for plebs off the street but not as up to it for us enthusiasts.

Syndal Music is good. They know their stuff so just tell them what you like and they'll get it done. Great blokes that are easy to talk to as well.
