Ok. Gumby is 2 or 3 weeks away from playing WAFL. With a few games under his belt is he the second tall to come into our forward line to help Pav out. I would love for this guy to come in and have a strong impact in the second half of the season. We need a player of his type. Could he and Walters be the answer to our premiership hopes for this year? Thoughts?

I know there is another thread for this but I thought I might start afresh in the hope that Gumby can start afresh

I was confused and thought that the thread starter was our more excitable and ummm...shall I say "panicky" friend with a similar username. So, I was surprised at the balance and nature of the thread.

I was mistaken.

Carry on.

btw, agree with Nickos66 assessment.

I don't think anyone has undue expectations of what he can manage in the second half of the year least of all Scott. Take it as it comes and hope for the best. Still think we need to have a forward structure coming into the finals that has two talls (Pav+other) and Clarke as the resting ruck. So far only Tabs has been given a crack so you would think if RTB is on the same page then Keplar could be tried in the next few weeks and then depending on form and how this structure goes Gumby becomes another option. Only other arrangement would be for Morabito (bit smaller) to be used in that role. Apeness may crack a game but I doubt it for this year.

I really hope Gumby gets up for his sake as much as for ours.
His is almost a sadder tale than Mora although probably stupid to compare them really.
The bloke has hardly been on the park at the top level without another hammy. The way he did the last one after all the work Webber et al would have put into him is worrying.
I really wish him every molecule of luck and hope he can get going for us and yes if him and Sonny get firing go buy the Brasso for polishing the cup.;);)

I'm curious to see how Peel will fit Gumbleton, Bradley, Griffin, Hannath, Taberner, Pearce and Apeness into the same team. I feel like it would be better for a few player's development if we could have them playing on different teams, and not have an unrealistically tall team

Certainly going to be an issue as the talls return to fitness.I guess at some point the interests of the two clubs may conflict;us wanting gametime for all the talls and there being too many of them for team balance.

You don't follow BF group think too much.

We haven't got any talls.

;)

I'll get excited when he's strung half a dozen games together and is looking dominant in the WAFL. Until then i'll remain skeptical as to whether he has the potential to add anything to our best 22 in the long term without his body consistently breaking down.

NOT Only scoring power his defensive work also needs to be good !!! chase his man etc... id rather have keps !! he can chase
