Played off half back getting easy kicks in the EFL grand final, was playing reserves during the year for Noble. He is very slow and his skills are not the best. Hasn't got the biggest engine oin the world either

I am dumbfounded to why St.Kilda would over look 4 or 5 All-Australians for this guy. Lunacy!! Surely Sharp, Toovey, Grundy, Kirkby are better prospects

Yeah interesting selection.

Were you at the EFL GF? He was BOG apparently, so do they give BOG in a GF to blokes who get easy kicks in the EFL? I wouldn't think so.

As I have never seen him play I cant comment on speed or disposals, but i would back John Beveridge, he seems to be pretty switched on.

Anyway, as a fellow Leeds fans, I wont dispute you until I see the kid play. ;)

Not hard/Good enough for afl. Mark my words this kid struggeled in most games of the season for Noble, playing some reserves games.

Errr....he is very quick with quick hands & good foot skills. That's the word from the recruiters. Carlton were going to take him also. His mother is from PNG & he was knocked back to play for a TAC cup club because he wanted to continue playing cricket.

I actually play for Noble Park and i think EB Tiger is just a little jealous that a Noble Player got drafted over an East Burwood player and that he carved them up ini the GF!

Gwilt has very good skills and though not speedy does possess pace, he is just smooth so it doesnt look like he is going super quick.

He played reserves footy at Noble because he is young and Noble already had established players in the seniors.

But still i think he is going to have to work very hard to make it at the level. Cant deny i was surprised he was picked.

Mate good luck to him. Just remember that EFL is not AFL, and I think that he'll be found out very quickly in that quality football.

I've played against him at a local level and I must say I am shocked he was drafted.

Quality footballer, but AFL standard?

I also played on him, almost fell of bed when I heard his name called.

Good luck to him, great advertisement for the best league in Melbourne.

Definetly young players played over recent years not to have been picked up. P. Grayling springs to mind

I'm just hoping that St.Kilda selectors don't have a Gwilt trip if he doesn't make it....

..... You guys are so simple minded if you beleive it's terrible he was picked up by St.Kilda. The kid is 18 and has been exposed to senior football and apparently done well. Mostly NONE of the U18 selected today have played senior football.

Take that into mind. ;)

I don't think it's terrible, I'm all for having players recruited from local leagues, espicially my own. I'm just shocked that it was him having played against him I would have never invisiaged him being selected in the draft.

Good article on Gwilt in the Age sports today. Sandy Dragons wanted him, but he wanted to play cricket during their pre season, so declined and played for Noble Park instead. I think this puts the choice in some perspective. The TAC system is the formal route, but not the only one.
