Hacker Hijacks Aircraft

A computer hacker in the US has claimed he was able to hack in to the aircraft control systems and briefly changed the course of the aircraft.

Sounds unlikely, looking forward to seeing proof that he didn't to be honest.

If I asked you why you say that, could you answer without relying on being told by an authority what to say?

If you look at the article with common sense, you'll see that Gibsons opinion (which you just repeated) is irrational.

Yeah no. Different systems. That's like saying you can access the USA's nuke codes by hacking into a telephone box out the front of the White House. Plus, any change of thrust of an engine, causing it to turn, would be noticed by the pilot, the passengers, air traffic control, traces kept in the black box & the other monitoring devices within an aircraft, and would be publicly viewable on sites like Flight Radar. Why say you "can" do it, but not give any proof

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

I'll ask you a question: How does the IFE display things like altitude/position/SAT or TAT/wind/IAS/TAS/GS?

There is clearly some sort of connection between the IFE network and the ADC. I'm not saying he's done it but lots of things that previously thought unhackable have been compromised before. It's a constant issue in infosec.

Edit: And obviously the end result being if you can get into the FADEC you can control the engines, the FA standing for 'Full Authority' and all.

Can be done.
Many planes have these remote control systems, meant to be for anti Hijacking I think.
It was used on the 9/11 planes, but not in the use for which it was intended.
