Haileybury 16.17.113 def Brighton 2.6.18

Best for Haileybury was Murray (BOG) who took atleast 20 marks for the game, was unstoppable. Just about everyone for the Haileybury team played well.
Best for Brighton, well no standouts obviously, they played like ********.
Gotta run, will write more later.
 
nothing unexpected there. the cheque books will be out again this year to buy some more state players that will help them win the flag again.

We all know that the real premiership was decided yesterday when scotch kicked the ******** outta grammar. scotch are the best team in the comp and there should be something done about this. a limit needs to be put on schools by the APS, for sports scholarships, or else we should stop playing against schools like haileybury for cups that are supposed to go to the genuine footy sides

i agree there; haileybury should not play in the aps if they are going to buy a whole football side, cricket side, swimming team, you name a sport they have bought player.
 
It is a shame that most of the people on this forum who bag Haileybury are unable to see that they are only doing what other schools have been doing for many years. The only difference is that Haileybury are not lying about it and have been honest. They could have denied it and lied like many other schools have done and continue to do.

Fact is Haileybury are the best team in the APS football competition so they deserve the premiership regardless of who is on a scholarship. If you are a good athlete in any sport you can get a scholarship to any APS school, it's pretty much just a decision where you want to go. If you are not good enough to get a scholarship, you end up posting rubbish on BigFooty that shows everyone how bitter you are. Please get over it and move on, most of us are sick of this constant slagging off session about Haileybury and scholarships.

what are you on mate. How many schools have 18+ scholarships in there first 18, 9 in there first 11 and pleanty of others in other sports. No other school can be compared with haileybury. Scotch would have maybe 3 -6 max, melb grammar would have 4 and i am just guessing, but i know for a fact they don't have over 10. get a grip, we won't slag off at haileybury when they reduce the ridiculous amount of scholarships they have. Haileybury are the best team in the aps, but they are a joke. They aren't representing what the aps is all about and they are making a mockery out of it.
 
Hopefully it makes other teams lift a notch and ultimately makes the entire APS a rich breeding ground for AFL talent like it should be.
 
Isn't it a bit of a coincedence that the two indigenous boys at Scotch are incredibly good at football? Quite interesting given that earlier in the year, the APS Headmasters signed an agreement saying that no boy would be offered a scholarship by a school so that he might raise the school's chances of winning a premiership. Haileybury's scholarships were given out before this agreement.

they are good at football. This is 2 people however, as opposed to haileyburys 20+, but its ok, they were given out before this agreement. You are kidding yourself mate. 2 aboriginal boys are being given the oppurtunity of a lifetime and you have a go at scotch for giving them this. It is 2 players, not a whole team like haileybury.

20+ ? i counted today, and i think it was 15 of the 22. which is definitely excessive, but seriously you losers need to get over it. haileybury have won the premiership, they are clearly the best side in the comp, better than scotch, better than melbourne, and all your whining and hating on them isnt going to change a damn thing.

Good point Esham, why can't you all get over it, there is nothing stopping other schools from doing the same, this topic has been talked about over and over again. Just get over it, i think a bit of jealousy might have kicked in that they wern't drinking from the cup last night.

And as for school spirit, you obviously didnt go to the game because Haileybury had a pretty big crowd there in full voice.

they had 19 when i watched and they have others playing in the seconds. Ruining the aps, they aren't really the best aps side

Junior and Nathan are at Scotch on an exchange that has been going on for years, earlier this year two other boys went to Scotch on the same exchange, and they played in the 10B side, which shows that it's clearly not about footy. They (Junior & Nathan) were chosen by their towns to come on the exchange - Scotch didn't choose them!

No-one denies having scholarshipped players in their sides, however not to the extent that an entire team is on scholarships. Another reason why people don't respect the way in which Haileybury has gone about winning their premiership is that the boys who have been offered scholarships all came to the school in years 10 and 11. Almost all other schools will give sporting scholarships in year 7 as an investment and a chance to offer young boys an education and all that sort of thing. Haileybury bring players in to their system in year 11 with the only goal to win their respective sports.

I heard the abodiginals at Scotch are getting racially abusesed by teachers. Some great opportunity that is. Wouldn't happen at Haileybury.

I was just saying that the after party last night was awesome, (in bold), yeh i agree with the sprit of haileybury, it's crap, but there was a pretty decent turnout of haileybury guys in full voice yesturday at the brighton game...

yeah the new mgs place is in the middle of no where, bit of a hole really ;)
 
You cant justify Hailiberys scholarships, at the start of the season in the pactice match they had their top 10 of their scholarship boys out playing rep footy, their 2nds lost by 116 points to brighton, the last round comes and hailbery just get over the brighton team. in both 2s and 1s games, although hailibery won you wouldnt have known, no emotion was shown at all. i think the highlight of my season was when the most respected man in the aps football fraternity congradulated the hailbery coach for ruining the best schoolboy competition in australia. no pride can be taken out of hailiberys premiership, absolute disgrace!!!

port melbourne is a 5 minute drive from where melbourne grammar is, south yarra, and is a magnificent sporting complex mate. get your facts straight
