About time too, got my Halo 3 controller and console covers so my Xbox is like a Halo 3 shrine.
Can not wait.

well we will see - i have sold limited edition faceplates on ebay for US$68 and somehow i dont think it will sell for less. What have i got to lose?

Shit yeah. I don't buy into the whole "Meh, not excited at all" crowd. I'm stoked Halo day is finally here.

Rang a mate at 630 this morning and hummed the theme music, he cracked up man

Apparently another mate went to a midnight opening and got it last night.

Played the first level. 2 words "####in awesome!!!"

Grabbing mine at 430 this arvo, today is dragging by.

Apparently another mate went to a midnight opening and got it last night.

HAHA i know somebody who went to the midnight launch played until about 6, slept for a few hours and is playing again, and over 2/3 of the way through the game now

96% on metacritic, as expected.

It'll be hard not to rush straight into multiplayer, but i have to see how the story pans out

I want to get one but one is like around $400 and the other is around $600...can somebody tell me the difference and whether I will need the 'expensive' one.

Halo 3 will be the biggest letdown in video gaming history. The only thing that makes it worth buying is the Forge, besides that, it's practically Halo 2 all over again.

Still, I'll be buying it in a couple of hours. 98% of Xbox 360 owners will own Halo 3, so it seems like a waste to be left out.

By platinum, i take it you mean premium?

And yeah, buy that, not the shitty core system.

Nothing to do with memory. The core (cheap) system has wired controllers rather than wireless, no access for wireless headsets, no hard drive, no HD output etc etc.

You'd regret buying one pretty quickly i'd say

Passed by Bioshock well and truly imo.

Halo 3 will give it a shake tho.

already finshed it.
awesome game, better than GoW and bioshock(i havn't finshed bioshock yet tho).
although the ending was rather disappointing.

People are mad for Halo 3

we opened at 8 this morning, only had about 20 people waiting, but we sold about 150 copies today

i was playing it before we opened on the stores TV's so they could see it from outside

Never been a Halo fan, i dont see what the fuss is about, just another FPS for me, its ok and all, but nothing revolutionary that hasn't been done before (except the 4 player co op looks good)

The game i'm waiting for is Assasin's Creed Will be brilliant

Been playing multiplayer co-op and slayer/other multi games, it's seriously good fun, not a game that totally envelopes you, but still pretty good. Halo 2 I thought was a bit crap, this is better.

Played through the first few levels last night on normal in single player.

They've really made it accessible to the noob, i spent the first hour just walking around doing headshots. Bit different when i tried heroic but, geez.

Overall, like the other halo installments, single player is fun enough, especially when you start getting a few vehicles (the brute chopper is pretty fun, takes some getting used to tho). Nothing really mind blowing tho when you play solo.

But...

After a while i put on the headpiece, gathered a couple of mates, and did a level on heroic with 3 player co op. Man seriously fun when you do it with mates. The new powerups add a pretty cool dimension. At one point one of my mates scouted around a low wall to find 4 enemies. I was still standing on the other side, so i equipped a brute shot, threw down a grav lift, and powered up over the wall (its like a device that gives you a super jump), and rained down grenades onto the enemies while my mate drew their fire. Really cool stuff.

Add to that, the Mulitiplayer is pretty much the most fun you can have in a FPS imo.

I'd say

Single player - 7/10(its halo with some new weapons, vehicles and powerups)

Campaign Co-op - 9/10

Multiplayer - 9.5/10 (its pretty much perfect)

If you're the sort of bloke that only likes playing FPS's as a single player, i'd understand why Halo might not appeal to you that much. Its ok, nothing that will blow your mind tho.

If you have an XBL account and love FPS Multiplayers, you need this game, seriously.

Bioshock is way better. the only problem with bioshock is it doesn't have multiplayer. if bioshock was multiplayer then Halo would be nothing.

I find Halo 3 to be Halo 1 with updated graphics and extra weapons.

The problem with a Bioshock multiplayer, would be they couldn't make it look anywhere near as nice as the single player game. It really pushes the xbox to its limits.

Halo looks much more simplistic graphically, thats why it runs so fast in multiplayer.

Again, if you judge Halo on the single player game, in comparison to Bioshock, it doesn't stack up at all. But the single player game in halo has always been just window dressing to the multiplayer, which is brilliant. Its far more than new weapons and flashier graphics. The levels have been designed to enable you to use the powerups to great advantage. Its a far deeper experience than previous halo multiplayers, allowing for vast differences in tactics.

Love it, loved bioshock too, but for different reasons. Fact is, i finished bioshock in a week. I'll be playing halo multiplayer for...well...years probably. Great value there.

I have played both halos (not the third one) and sorry to say but they seem to be horribly overrated, although popular.

I actually own the first one on computer so its a lot of fun to play it online. The second one .. I played it with mates in some sort of LAN thing and it was probably the best multiplayer ever bar super smash bros multiplayer.

Would the multiplayer be as good as say CS source or the upcoming TFC 2 on the pc?

I have always found that in my gaming experience for FPS it pretty much went Goldeneye on N64 followed by Counterstrike on PC both were great and CS is still popular. Other rivals never really get close IMO anyway i remember getting Perfect Dark on my new Xbox 360 then being disgusted at it.

The Multiplayer on Perfect Dark wasn't too bad if you turned the noob weapons like the superdragon off.

I played it a fair bit for the lack of an alternative multiplayer on 360 at the time. But yeah, wasn't that great.
