Would post on Question and Answer board but I'm desperate for a quick answer.

It is girlfriend's birthday today. Going out for dinner tonight (leave in like 15 minutes). I haven't gotten her anything, she knows this. We spent pretty much the whole day shopping, but she's your typical girl with too much crap.

I want to get her an event present. Got her swimming with the dolphins last time which was a hit.

At the moment, the leading idea I have is tickets to Cirque de Soleil. Unfortunately its in Sydney and there's no Melbourne tickets (despite what my location says, I live in Melbourne).

I need an idea. Best idea wins and I wont rule out dick-in-a-box.

dick-in-a-box. definately.

Or some kind of perfume. Girls like perfume.

Or get her a skateboard. Maybe she can take up skateboarding?

EDIT: Just checked what shows and stuff are on at the moment. Definately go with Sing-A-Long-A Sound of Music. Can only be awesome.

Man, I get her perfume almost every year. Either for birthday, xmas or anniversary. She has truckloads.

Despite this, we still spent half an hour checking out perfumes

No sell though.

Yeah, I do the same. Its a good pick for not knowing what else to get.

David Strassman is doing a show. Arj Barker?
Events are hard because it depends on what is on at the time.
Swim with sharks? Its like extreme dolphins.

Hot air balloon ride over the Yarra Valley.

She's done that already unfortunately.

I'm thinking Cirque de Soleil in Sydney on the weekend of the 15th of August. Drive from Melbourne to Sydney, stop in Albury for a night to see parents (my mum, her dad have birthdays on 14th and 15th) and then hang in Sydney for a bit.

Hate how she claims she's easy to buy for as well. She really isn't. One of those girls who doesn't have any interests or hobbies that she's passionate about.

BigFooty platinum subscription.

It might seem cheap/lame/sappy, but buy (or make) her a lovely card, and write at length inside telling her how much she means to you; fill the whole of the inside with a wall of text :p. You probably won't need to get her anything else, as the gesture will mean more than any gift ever could (although the card is a nice place to slot in a pair of Cirque du Soleil tickets ;)).

Hahaha I insisted me and my bf make each other Valentines Day cards this year instead of buying them. I stole some red construction paper from school, bought like these cheap stickers n stuff, and pasted on a nice photo of the two of us on the front of the card.

He gave me such a crap card in comparison.

Lol, men. :)

HEY! Thats not true. :p

He still does little things... like leaving/hiding notes for me when I get home from work.

Men just cant make cards, I guess. (Was so funny too, he made like this "fake" card- REALLY pathetic- like a peice of white paper folded in two, with "happy valentines day" on it then he was like "But THIS is the REAL card".... and it wasnt that much better. ****ing cracked me up- I still have it tho- letters, cards, notes, I keep everything)

I agree with the bolded. I am a terrible card maker.
Last christmas, I forgot to buy a card to go with my girlfriends present, so I did as you have said above. I folded a white piece of paper in half, and then drew a santa on the front saying "hey".

I was an artist.

:D:D

(Didnt the thought cross your mind to add "merry xmas" at all? :p)

But hey its the thought that counts tho. Better doing that, than nothing.

Last Xmas I wrapped my wife's present in newspaper and wrote 'To xxxx' in pen on it.

Bitches love newspaper.

Good thing it was a top of the line MacBook Air.:)

Hahahahaha...nice.

Personally I would prefer a handmade card with a bit of personality than one that they quickly picked up from the newsagents.

As for presents for your girlfriend THRILLHO - has she seen Rock of Ages or Love Never Dies or any of the other shows that are on at the moment? You never really hear a bad word about productions like those.

It crossed my mind, but I thought hey would suffice :p. The santa had a sack and everything. It was probably the best picture I ever drew.
Words weren't needed for the awesomeness of that card.
