By the sounds of things, hamish has a very specific 'yes' list of clubs he would be prepared to move to after meeting Melbourne based clubs.

That yes list could include as few as 1 or even zero clubs.

If you're not on that list, there's no point even discussing picks really.

Because that yes list hamish has is so tiny- port know they would have to accept unders to move him and his whopping contract- given hamish has limited their ability to bargain down to possibly as few as 1 club.

Sounds like port now know they would have to take unders at the trade table to get rid of hamish and his money.
And have made the call (for now) to put up with hamishs mega coin in their cap, rather than take unders.

You'd need port to change there mind on that AND you'd need to be on hamishs yes list.

Good news is if that happened you'd get him way cheaper than your proposed trade
