Is this possible or impossible? He needs to hold his mark. He needs a bigger engine. We know that he can jump and run but when he develops a footy brain, he'll be close to being the next Kouta. Thoughts?

Huge call, probably not. He is probably a tad too big to have the impact, hand eye co-ordination, skill etc to be as good as kouta. Both athletic but still no comparison, BUT.....Hammer has played 34 games in his 4 years and started late, Kouta played 50 reserves games before he played a senior game, so on that score, Hammer is still well within the developing his game period so deserves more time. He could be anything, you just never know.

I get the comparison - big guy, good physique, big leap and quick. Nowhere near as agile as Kouta though, not as good recovery or as good below his knees and certainly not the same natural football instinct, so no. I'd be happy with the next McKernan though :)

Back in the day Kouta was quite tall for a midfielder; today he'd fit right in alongside Judd, Pendleburry et al. Interesting that you've had to reach for a 201cm player to reflect what was at the time, an unusual height:athleticism ratio.

No chance

Hammer has some real upside but needs to start holding on to marks more consistently and somebody needs to teach him how to kick, his kicking is atrocious to say the least

His only hope is to buy a Souvlaki Hut franchise and some ads for Local Blue wouldnt hurt either.

Hard to see Hampson ever matching K's athleticism and agility.

Maybe if Hampson starts to hold his marks and improve his kicking at goal he could become the next 50% Kouta.

no, Kouta was very strong on his legs and around the hips and had great balance, agility and brilliant ball handling and was a good mark. Hampson is not this way.

No, seriously no. Kouta was a star, unfortunately doesn't get the recognition he deserved by supporters of other clubs. If it wasn't for injuries in the prime of his career he would have been ranked right up there with Hird, Buckley, Voss etc.

I saw a bloke run into an open goal holding the ball in 1 duke on the weekend and nearly wet myself!! Step on down j Waite
