Is anybody else of the opinion that our handballs are far bellow par? Countless times today our players would handball the ball to the FEET or 1-2 metres out in front of a team mate. I can't get why we can't simply hit some one with a handball who's not even 3 metres away. Even when we finally do, they are hospital handballs and put us under more pressure than they relieve.

Also, can somebody PLEASE explain what our zone is when the opposition kicks in? I truly is staggering how every time the opposition will have a man standing out in the pocket, and one of our players will be standing 5-10 metres away from him. I can't stand it. I know players are being told to man space for the lead, etc. however i really can't see a problem with the good-old-fashioned man-on-man.

Thoughts???

Not only that but we handball to a bloke that is flat footed or in a worse position or we delay the handball until the opponent is on top of us and blocks the passage of the ball

Teams tend to intentionally leave some space open in the pockets because that's where they don't mind the opposition getting the ball there. Team then focus the zone on that half of the ground making it difficult to clear the ball cleaning. We did it superbly versus. Fremantle in the second half last week.

We always have a player free in the same positions for our kick ins and unfortunately tend to use it often, though we've been better in recent weeks. Earlier in the season we really struggled to effectively clear our defensive 50 because we kicked it short to the pocket.

We are content to handball the thing near a player as opposed to directly at him. What happened when (?) gave it off to AJ in the last line of defence today? He had to chase the ****ing thing all the way to the Richmond goal-square and Riewoldt (?) goaled. Hit it at them not just near them!

i get that's what INTENTION is, however more times than not, we don't get thsoe numbers back to the thing after we allow the short kick to the pocket. more times than not the opposition can get it to the wing/HFF with minimal ease.

Yes, I actually cringe when we get a behind as it feels like more often than not, the opposition will run it the length of the ground and our best attempt is a spoil and run out of defence, which we do well. We are fantastic around stoppages IMO, so must try to force as many of them as possible.

Or receiving the handball and not looking around and getting pumped for holding the ball when they get dragged to the ground by 5 other players.

Somebody yesterday panicked they were about to be tackled so instead handballed it straight at a Tiger. Not sure if he then intended to lay a tackle on the Tige or not but it left me so confused at what goes through their heads

I saw Murphy do that. I think a few players were eating the panic burgers yesterday, happened far too often.

Hoops did get a perfect handball over to Gibbs for the goal in the 1st. That's how it should be done Hoops, not that effort in the last where you turned back into traffic with your hands in the air! That was just stupid.

agreed. Our "zone" is awful. Teams consistently either just kick over it, or run through it with ease
