Changing the date wouldn't replace Australia as a nation or its history or achievements.

Unfortunately January 1st/New Year's Day would upset the slobs who think that is another day for a public piss up erased by one.

Point is, a lot of these so called historically important dates are not as set in stone as many think.

Is there an argument from an intellectual perspective to be made that Australia Day should be sacrosanct and always celebrated on January 26th (leaving all personal biases and emotions aside)

Keep the date if you want, but I also believe it's important we teach kids in schools and universities what a complete and utter murderer/rapist and slave trader Captain Cook was, who met the date.

I could have more sympathy for the Keep the Date movement if so many of them didn't refuse to acknowledge the genocide and crimes of humanity those Pommie ****ads inflicted on our nation and the fact the Anglo-Aussie population of Australia are descended from convicts.
