What are his prospects?

Sire- Fusaichi Pegasus -Been OK without setting the world on fire here with a few good ones- Flying Pegasus, Zizou, Pure Joy, and the 3yo filly out of Ballroom Babe(name escapes me). Had some great mares sent to him though.

Dam- Circles Of Gold - Been outstanding with Elvstroem being a multiple G1 winner and Hveger being stakes placed. Reports are the Redoute's Choice colt is a cracking type.

Overview- Obviously being a group 1 winner and with a fantastic female pedigree he has a huge chance. His sire seems to throw mentally immature horses more often than not and it is fair to say that Haradasun himself is a slow learner and his enormous ability has got him this far. A plus is he will be perfectly suited to cover all the high class Danehill, Redoutes Choice, Flying Spur, Galileo, Rock Of Gibraltar mares that will be around when he retires to stud as he is by Mr.Prospector and is a great outcross for most Aussie mares saturated with Northern Dancer/Danehill blood. He obviously has feet troubles which hopefully arent a genetic thing.

Another plus is that he has the ability to sprint well but looks like he will get a very strong 2000m. They could retire him today and stand him for 30K. If he improves like most expect and add a few more group 1's he could stand for 60K+.

Thoughts?

Fu Peg. He's talking about cross breeding down the lines..

Tipungwuti is also a Fu Peg.

i know my breeding dirty, and after reading that, im thinking that you know what your talking about, even with mf. but that singo thing with seth has got a bit out of hand.

fu peg, to me has been dissapointing, because at such a expensive service fee and such hype after his kentucky derby win, he was meant to be the next big thing!! as you said, he got all the qaulity mares, so to me, he should be showing better things atm.

A fair bit of this was discussed in the Efficient V Haradasun thread

seth

is this like incest?

No mate, what I mean is that because Fusaichi Pegasus (the sire of Haradasun) is by Mr Prospector which means that all of the Danehill line mares can be sent to him. Because Mr P and Danehill are not related it would be a good match. We need some top sires for all of this Danehill blood. His rival if he proves good enough would obviously be Encosta and maybe Galileo who has already in Europe produced a juvenile champion in Teofilo out of a Danehill mare.

Serenade Rose is an example of a closely bred match. She is by Stravinsky (who is by Nureyev) out of a Sadler's Wells mare. Nureyev and Sadlers Wells are 3/4 brothers. So maybe we'll see Flying Spur mares sent to Redoute's Choice.

Saturday was a huge day for Fu Peg. He had his first Group 1 winner in Australia, almost made it two with Zizou in the Golden Slipper and also had Tipungwuti win a Group 2. It was the second biggest day of racing in the country, so he has managed to produce on the big stage. If Zizou were to have got up in the Slipper, I think the hype that surrounded Fu Peg at the start of his stud career but has since dropped off remarkably would have returned. It seems silly, but that long neck means so much. Fu Peg's are close to unwanted in the sales ring at the moment, but if he was the sire of a slipper winner, then all that would certainly change.
I think that hype that surrounded Fu Peg didn't do him a heap of favours either. Everyone was expecting him to be another Danehill they way he was talked up and there will never be another Danehill. His statistics aren't that bad though. He was fifth-leading first crop sire and he is never going to have a heap of ready made 2yos cos after all he is a derby winner. The second year he was fifth-leading second crop sire and he is now the leading third-crop sire. Hardly the flop some people have suggested he is.

I think you will find Fu Peg will have alot brigther future with Zizou also showing alot of promise, is a matter of time before he breaks through for a g1.

Reset currently stands at about 60k doesnt he? and Bel Esprit is at 27k or their abouts, you would probably have to say Haradasun would be in between them 2, around the 45k mark. If he can win on Monday then would expect his standing fee to rise possibly to 70k or their abouts, quite scary isnt it?.

Could be a good perdiod for the Fu Peg colts, whilst they have been mediorcre their are some promising 2-3 yrs olds coming through, Tipungwuti looks the goods also.

I dont by any stretch think FuPeg's a flop. Last saturday was a huge day for him. You're correct he's a bit out of fashion at the minute but maybe Zizou, Haradasun, Tipungwuti and others can change that. He is a Derby winner but only over 2000m.

The hype he recieved meant he in no way could have lived up to it. I read where a genuine respected, experienced pedigree and breeding analyst stated that he would put his house and career on the racing world mentioning FuPeg in the same conversation as Storm Cat, Sadler's Wells and Danzig. Crazy stuff. I put this too you all- If Haradasun was by Danehill or Redoute's Choice could you imagine the frenzy at the moment from stud masters. Maybe this indicates FuPegs worth at the moment.

I haven't checked but I recall (and could be wrong) that Reset was $33000 and Bel Esprit was $22000. Some recent retirees- Snitzel $33000, Lonhro $66000 so I would think that Haradasun has a fair bit to do before they can charge Lonhro like prices. He may do it though!

I think the problem that I alluded to in the first post is that the FuPeg's are very fizzy as 2 and 3 year olds (2 especially) meaning they are hard to handle and get stirred up easily. Zizou, Dr.Green, Haradasun and Flying Pegasus are a bit better than most in that department but apart from Zizou all had their wayward moments. I believe that Zizou is from the family of Snippets (same as Forensics) which he may have thrown too.

I know ill be sending my fillie of to Delzao when shes finsihed (she hasnt even started yet), 6k standing fee if I remember right. He would have to be the biggest bargain of them at the moment.

Tige, I love my breeding. Could you give me the pedigree details of your filly and give us posters a chance to make some recommendations on a sire for you? I think Delzao has a reasonable chance to make it as a good sire if the right mares are sent to him but at 6K there are some established sires at that price too that might be worth your look. Is 6K about the price you want to pay?
