a few things he said of note:

- JR will play in a mid/forward role - i'm guessing that means starting at around the 30-35 metre mark. The Johnathon Brown position?

- JR playing higher will allow them to find a full forward as Dimma believes that there haven't been too many premiership sides with one dominant forward recently. He threw up the names of Griff and Post who will get a crack at this position. He may of mentioned one other but I can't remember.

- Angus has had a bit of on an injury interupted preseason but definately showed signs last year and has trimmed down a bit to gain some mobility. And yes Madtig he did mention BROWNE and Derickx along with Gus holding our ruck division in good stead. Neither Dimma or KB mentioned Vickery as a ruckman so they must be hoping to use him more as a forward.

- Foley - first round draft pick comment again. Also quite confident that with guys like Grigg coming in we have the makings of our midfield for the next 10 years. Pointed out that Grigg and Houli are from the 2006 draft along with Jack? Edwards and a couple of others. Can't remember the names but he seemed to think this was significant.

- Dustin Martin had approx. 30 touches in the 2*20 minute half scratch match recently.

- The boys are excited by the upcoming indigenous allstars match and he sees it as an opportunity for some of the youngers players. (Geez I hope we don't play a team of kids and get spanked)

Why?
Couldn't care less about this match.
Riewoldt, Deledio, Newman, Cotchin, Martin, leave them all home.
Imagine if one of them copped a bad injury in a nothing match, I'd go crazy. Much better to play the kids, get a look at some of the new draftees etc.

Thanks for the summary.

It's basically a practice match so you treat it the same as any other practice match. ie you dont risk players carrying any sort of injury and may rest some of the older players (what little there are).

What you can't worry about is a fit player copping an injury. If you took that attitude you wouldn't play too many front line players until the season proper.

In saying that, in this instance what could come into play is the state of the ground. We have had a lot of rain this wet and the ground is in pretty poor condition. All local games have been moved from Mararra in an attempt to get the ground up to scratch. The footage shown on the ABC news last night showed a very waterlogged and churned up playing surface.

Still have to question why Jack who won a Coleman at FF is going to have his role changed. I was under the impression we recruited Griffiths as a CHF which would give us that other forward or are we getting ready too cut our losses there?

I believe Griffiths will be FF and Riewoldt FP floating from the square to CHF, Wing, thats my guess anyways.
