Agree.

He has talent, showed that in his first year. His ankle issues have stuffed him though. The reason the door is slightly ajar is that Norf rehab is about as under resourced as Danog toupee..

I'm 25 campaigner o_O

You poor bald young campaigner :p

I did find this image of him and your wife

Always wanted us to get him on the list, but he's been in the system a while now and still hasn't shown much
Would consider as a rookie pick to see if he can get his body right, probably not much more than that though

We wont find a better player than Harper at a Rookie pick, Kid has 4 years under the Kangaroo's system and is a mature body / build
The Kangaroo's have a reasonably strong foward line and a few running player - But with Harvey getting older and Nahas being Nahas cant believe they didnt keep him for another year.

Im in favour of getting harper as a rookie selection and he can make our team better and has the talent to make it, Maybe a change of clubs will really spur him on and can see him becoming a better player than he has shown so far

Thank you for the good contribution to my fine thread. Posters like T71 could take a leaf out of your book.

IMO he will probably be a bust but so will most rookies so worth a crack as he plays a position we need.

Im a firm believer of churning over 20% of your list (rookie and senior list) every year , Sure maybe not every single year but most years thats 8-9 players a year

You need to get players like Moore,Harper,Ballard,S.Yarran on late to rookie picks to see if you can get 1 and if extremely lucky
specially with players like Harper and Moore. These players didnt get selected in the 1st round for no reason and have the skill talent to be good players and at worst be good role players

kids that you select after #30-#40 are very rarely going to be playing afl in 4-5 years so these picks are virtually throw away picks and should be used to improve depth and quality of your bottom 8-10 players

Very slight upgrade on Gordon. Don't think he'll make it but considering that McDonough and Gordon were delisted, we've lost a bit of depth for running HFFs and Harper at the very least, would be a better option than an 18yo if we were annihilated by injuries.
is he, arguably done less at senior level. rookie only for mine

We needed a player like him when we didn't have any pace in the team but last years draft sorted that out + McIntosh, Hunt and Yarran. I think Menadue will be a much better version of Harper.

This one looks better than other options. IF he played who's position would be shaky?

He wouldn't, he's never found the ball. With his obvious skill and athleticism being elite weapons I guess it was hoped he would start to find more of the pill as he developed. Hopefully a change of game plan may work for the kid.

Who was the last top 10 player to be delisted who went on to become a good player elsewhere. Personally i cant think of one, not in recent times last 6 or 7 years. The reason i guess is clubs tend to hang onto such picks for as long as possible hoping they turn it around. When they finally cut em there is little doubt left.
At the end of the day i suppose a top 10 pick or rookie if they are no good they are no good.

At Richmond picks after 30 or 40 and beyond have been poor, but at most clubs they have found their fair share of good to very good players.Imo i think this is the reason why clubs have always managed to play finals then bottom out and then go back past us.
If the attitude is they are nothing but throw away picks then you are going to spend a lot of time in the wilderness.

Hmm Geelong and its premierships. Scarlett, Chapman, Ling, Enright, Mooney, Milburn, Rooke, Blake, Ablett, Ablett, Hunt, Harley, Byrnes, Egan who made AA and would have played in their premierships if not for injury,Stokes, Mumford who didnt play in a premiership but did at sydney,Hawkins, Christenson, pods, West. To take it further the science is getting better and better and it is imperative top 40 or 50 picks are valued.

Not against Richmond. But that Geelong team was so enjoyable to watch.
