AFL Club
Geelong
So it seems we have a new captain of the Geelong Football Club ;).

Wonder why Joel wasn't around for this, Something to do with his hamstring injury ??

5 interstate clubs captains in the front row just seems strange to me.

also back row, far end is normal were the duds go isnt it? The best player in the league deserves a more central position i would have thought.

I saw one the news earlier the selfie that the players took today and was looking for Selwood but surprised to see Taylor in the back ground. Maybe Selwood stayed back in Geelong for treatment on his injury, but I would have thought in that case Bartel (he was VC last year?) would have gone in his place.
I saw some message from the club earlier that the leadership group will be announced at the season launch, so maybe a change in the VC role this year which is why Taylor is there?

Also missing are Cotchin & Murphy - but Deledio & Simpson are the VC's for their respective sides.

So, maybe Geelong is looking at the future with more than just the list changes we saw last year; a younger leadership group in charge over summer & hopefully some of them coming into the leadership group full time & leadership roles for those sub 30 rather than 30+.

Imagine the bitching from the DQ's on this board if Selwood's hammy got worse by sitting in a car for an hour or so,then a plane for another hour or so just to go and speak to a bunch of arselickers [AFL media, not South Australians ;)].
Good decision to send someone else.Avoids the whining.

thanks jubby...strange that only melbourne gets both their captains (one of whom is paul chapman lite) on the photo.

It is odd,in previous years only 1 captain from clubs with multiple captains has been the representitive for their club.

Phew! What a relief the following is not a rumour:
But star defender Harry Taylor doesn't expect to be pushed into attack on a more regular basis than in the past.

Off topic, but as it's in the same piece:

Vardy had his knee reconstruction, which was performed by renowned orthopaedic surgeon Julian Feller, in Melbourne on Monday.

Very pleased with the choice of surgeon.:thumbsu:

who you go to for when you need good reco?:D:D:D

seriously, was speaking to my physio a month ago and he was telling me australia has the best, or among the best, orthopedic surgeons in the world. and that australian athletes traveling overseas to see a specialist were kidding themselves.
