What's the bet that if the crows had renewed Ben Hart's contract, we would have seen an article titled "Crows thinking with their Hart and not their heads" or something along the lines.

Obviously it wasn't the most popular decision, neither was it sensitively executed, but it had to be done.

Very True. However, i am extremely disappointed at how AFC handled this. they should have done it discreetly and then let Benny asses his options before making the announcement! In the end it was probably the right decision for the AFC but was executed poorly. it will be great if Benny sticks around, but if he wants a contract at another club and does get picked up, good on him. cant picture him in any other colours though!

Listening to Reidy tonight they were obviously trying to do it discreetly and give Ben a chance to assess his options before the announcement. There was obviously one leak and then it spread like wildfire and so an announcement had to be made.
You can imagine a player being told, rings one close friend who rings another and suddenly it is everywhere, albeit each confidante swears not to tell anyone.
These are decisions that are hard to keep inhouse, no matter how professional the Club tries to act.

I think it was the right decision except Id rather it was made AFTER the club champion awards.

Dammed if you do, Dammed if you don't. Its a very sad way for Benny Hart to end his playing days at the AFC, but as we are consantly reminded by some in the media that we do have the oldest playing list in the AFL and these same "experts" 18 months ago were carping on about how the AFC need to turn over a playing list that was stagnant and aging. Now they are doing that, its being disgraceful??!?!
Ben Hart is a true champion of the game, not just the AFC, we have been very lucky to have seen him play in our colours, but his time is coming to an end, along with the other champions of our club in Bungi, Roo etc, who I personally think have, at most 2 years left in the game.
The real tragedy here will be if other players who haven't worked hard enough for the contracts or haven't made the most of their chances, are retained on our list, that would be a disgrace.

Does Rucci have to be brought up every time something happens to the AFC?

For what it's worth it's never good seeing champions leave but he was a great player and he will be missed by the Crows.
