Where do you lads see my boy Brent Hartigan at?

I've always been a big fan of the kid. 2007 will be his 4th season, so he is going to have to start showing something abit more.

However, again I like him. He is one of our few angry, solid kids - has abit of grunt and not afraid to knock blokes over.

He has also looked really good on occassions, linking up well with Raines and co. in the back 6 untill injury struck him down (and Raines went the other way!).

I really think he could be a player. However, the problem for him is with the emergance of many players: Foley (177cm), White (179), Tambling (179), Howat (182) - and even the like of Krakouer + Rodan he is trying has a fight on his hands for our starting 22 in 2007 (you can only play so many short blokes in the same 22), if we have a good run with injury. I see the like of White being the type of player he will fight with for a spot in the side.

At worst I think he will be a deapth player for a couple seasons because he has abit to offer if he can get his body right.

At best: could turn out a real handy football and force his way into our way our side for the next 10 years - perhaps a Montgomery type playe (Port - 2004) or maybe even a Matthew Robbins?

Decent football, shown signs he could be rather good. With the like of White, Polo and co. running around the list is looking a tad healthier than I can remember. Good run with injurys and 2007 onwards we should be somewhat decent.

I hope he can make a solid return next year in the backline, running with Rainsey.

Hartigan is a good player. Fourth season eh, cant believe its gone so quickly.

I think that he is better than Howat and White and could edge them out. Not dissin either of the players I just think that at the moment he is better than those two. Can play all over the field as well which is a bonus.

After watching the replay of Essendon v Richmond (dreamtime match), Harts was sensational that night and was probably BOG in the first half. He has showed on a few times he looks capable at the level. Ppl suggest we have others of his type, well in my opinion you can never have enough solid hard runners - look at Adelaide. If one player gets injured another is able to step right in....depth wins flags....thats why i wouldnt mind seeing Tommy Roachy have a crack aswell....im not conviced the coaching staff are sold on Harts and i know Essendon have been having a look his way....hope he stays...adds grunt!

I don't mind him, but he is the kind of mid range player that could well get shipped off as part of a bigger trade.
Does that mean Bentleigh will go with him?

I really rate the guy, but he was dropped before injury struck him down and im not sure he is rated that highly at the club. Always seem to hear that he doesnt train as hard as he could, so maybe there was to it than just form being the reason he was dropped. With Howat and White coming into the team late this season, JON and Casserley will be pushing for selection next year, as Dice Man says Brent is now a depth player. I'm not sure players can be maintained anymore for depth.

Hard runner, faultless application and courage. Can have tunnel vision and disposal is not up to our future spec. Lacks penetrative kick and natural "take on" ability to play of h/back and not nimble enough with feet or hands to play in close.

Probably a run with player and verbal antagonist for opposition hotheads (Terry loved this sort at the doggies), who really needs to dramatically increase his skills/disposal to really cement his place in top 18.

At this stage strengths are slightly ahead of his weaknesses so 2007 will tell if he is heading up in his development graph.

I really rate this guy and was impressive when he played earlier this year.

I agree though we have to many small guys it will be a battle between Haritgan White and Howat

I think these guys are fighting for the one spot i think at the moment Hartigan is just infont but its hard to pick who we want the most.

Before Hartigan got injuryed i was watching him the in VFL and noticed he has really bulked up, looked very strong in the upper body.

Hope he gets more of a chance next year

i rate him. will be the player he can be next year i hope. we need many players who can take thier turn in the middle and do up job up forward and back. he fits the mould.

Port Adelaide had something like 7 players under 180cm in their premiership team. Don't worry about their height too much, pace is more important these days. As long as you know how to play a certain position, height isn't so much an issue.

i rate hartigan as potentially being a quality player...if he remains injury free.

Very strong, courageous and not afriad to run and break through tackles...similar to Raines. Has good pace and skills to succeed at AFL level.

hope to see lots more of him next year :thumbsu:
