Did anyone see his interview on CH gosage tonite(7/4)? He was "bemused" about the outcry after the first game loss.
Either he hasn't fully understood what situation he was coming into ie missing finals after last two years and how everyone is on notice or he doesn't understand how passionately the faithful really are about their footy. Maybe its both.

For all those who think that Harvey is the Messiah if Connolly falls over are DREAMING!!

Firstly no I didnt see it. But to put my spin on it....

Maybe Harvs are playing the Goose and the media here for what they are. Controversy seekers and sh*t stirrers. Not letting them get to Freo and put pressure on them but to try to create a Vic team mentality where they dont have or ignore the media focus and work to their game plans.

Obviously if they lose this week he'll learn that the media here arent spinable.

What he meant was he isn't used to the scrutiny after one loss. In Melbourne with 9 teams there is no way a side would be back page all week, the main sports story on each news channel and the subject of hundreds of talk back calls. Geelong and the south Australian teams would understand, but not people from Melbourne.

I would think he would understand the passion and the pressure, but in Melbourne the pressure comes from members who have more power (and where there is no chance of a dud coach getting a 3 year deal because his best buddy is the CEO).

I agree he is not the messiah, and IMHO he would make a poor senior coach. Hopefully he hasn't come over here with the assurance that the senior job is his if/when Connolly departs.

you have absolutely no idea what sort of a coach he may turn out to be,he is only an assistant coach. time will tell but don't write the guy off before he has even been given a go. as an observer ,i have to admit i have noticed a huge improvement in committment at training and in games played so far with the exception of last week.

Prior to moving to Perth Harvey had a weekly slot on fox footy. He often spoke nonsense and came across as the old school bone head footballer like Doug Hawkins and Tony Shaw. That doesn't mean he isn't a good assistant, but IMHO he won't be a successful senior coach. The successful coaches (Roos, Sheedy, Malthouse, Pagan) are well spoken, quite clever and have a presence. I don't think Connolly and Harvey fit that mould.

We played superbly against the eagles who had a poor preseason, were okay against the pies, poor against the cats, very good against port and disgraceful against the hawks. Up and down and inconsistent. Nothings changed.

How can you judge some one when he has not been given a go and does not have the job.

CC has been there for four years with one final and that was a flogging. So based on his track record he should out and let Harvey have a go. If he fails then judge him.

CC should have been given the boot two b***** years ago.

Most people agree with you.

That said with our current list, I would give harvey this season and next if he were to tak over next week.
After that...Like I said years ago...Time to throw money at Sheedy..Still the best coach in the league in my opinion.
