Malceski and Haselby what a blow if they are season injuries.

Really is it worth the risk. Match fitness is one thing, we lost Kerr last week Im glad we are not risking so many

Anyone got any idea what actually happened?

Is it a Knee, pretty sever if so

did not look good got knee caught under another player and was in some pain. best case its only twisted, fingers crossed we cant have two in one day

Went down over the boundary line in a tackle. Didn't look like much but you couldn't really see much because he had a few bodies around him. Didnt move at all after he did it. Hands just went to his head like "oh shit".

NAB games are getting more serious each year. They are no longer scratch matches and injuries are starting to appear. The intensity in these games is as high as a regular season game.

Sooner or later the AFL should scrap this and extend the Home and Away Season. Maybe call the irst 10 rounds the NAB cup and award the Ladder leader the Cup...For sponsorship dollar.

Il tell you from experience, if you do it badly, it flipping hurts.
agree, i think it was the last time i was nearly in tears, sure when some people do it they dont look like they are in pain, but they do hurt

Makes sense as to why so many clubs rest there players.

All freo will get out of this is advancement to NAB Cup Round 2.
Great.

Why do people continually struggle with this very easy concept?

You can extend the H&A season to 50 weeks but teams would still want a couple of practice games.

Surely this is pure common sense.

Its a massive loss, but you can hardly be negative towards Freo's approach in this instance. If they were to rest all their top players they would get a tonne of injuries when the season starts because they would all be underdone. Just as important as getting fit is working on new strategies and game plans.

NAB Serious ???

Maybe for a couple of sides, like Adelaide and Freo.

It may sound terrible - but if it is a season ender for Haselby, it'll put his career in jeopardy you'd think. He's not the quickest of players anyway - a serious knee injury isn't going to improve on that.

Id be more worried about those who are quick having knee reconstructions then the other way around.. they rely on their speed, he doesnt.

Most likely an MRI, which shows up soft tissue structures quite well. Imaging is based on water content as opposed to x ray (based on density & scattering of x rays).

They would probably do both, see if any bone has chipped or anything aswell.

judging by the impact sustained, i'd say grade 2-3 medial strain (the impact was sustained on the outside, forcing greater strain on the medial or inside of the knee). May need a medial reconstruction which will mean 4-6 months. If its a grade 2-3 without surgery he'll be out for about 12 weeks- Judging by his reaction he looked okay but couldn't walk. I know medials are relatively awkward feelign with pain, and thats what it looked like he had.

They'll x-ray to see the extent of bone bruising and chipping (if any) and mri definately will pick up a tear straight away.

he didnt even try an stand up on it i think he knows its serious.

Reason he gave thumbs up would be to keep the teams mind on job instead of feeling bad for him, make them think its not too serious.
