I met a fellow Hawk fanatic at the 08 GF and we have become great mates !!
I had bought an interstate membership in 05 as I had a lot of confidence in Clarko. In April 08 I got a premonition that The Mighty Hawks were going to go all the way to the GF so I increased my membership to Gold !! This was a big move as no one was suggesting The Hawks could get there in 08. Everyone seemed to be sure it would be the Cats B to B !! During the year I had a lot of serious issues at work causing sleeping problems and so resigned giving 6 weeks notice in August.
Two weeks later my wife was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.I had given up hope and any thought of going to the GF when my wife and her mum sat me down one day and told me they actually wanted me to go !!!!! This was amazing as I had been resigned to not going and to be here to support my awesome wife.
So I went and my seat was fortuitously located in front of a whole Cat section!!!
I am a pretty chatty Hawk so before long the guy next to me and I were chatting about The Hawks at every opportunity!
We shared THE UTTER JOY of watching The Hawks beat the Cats and we have been great mates ever since and keep in regular contact.
My wife has survived the cancer, I got a better job and Andrew my mate and I gained a life long friendship!
