Yep. I have a just turned 4 year old and she has only seen Grannies with the Hawks in it!
My son is 8, he didn't really understand how the Hawks didn't make the GF

This thread is starting to sound more and more like #otherclubsproblems

Trying to work out if I should have organised a GF BBQ, but forgetting to do it because it's been 5 years since I didn't have something to do on this day.
#hawthornproblems.

I got to JB Hifi today and bought a DVD set of all Hawthorn's 13 premierships.
28 hours of viewing.

There's only 24 hours tomorrow so I'll go on into Sunday.

Incidentally the Collingwood one only had the 1990 and 2010 wins.

Didn't have videos when they won back in the 1920's, I guess.

Aah if only, would have been great to get Keiser Wilhelm's perspective on those epic flags.

Woke up this morning with the strangest feeling.

It's Grand Final day and the Hawks are NOT playing.

It's indescribable. A mixture of the absence of a constant. There is disappointment, absolutely. But also a slight but definite sense of relief that I can actually enjoy the day as a relaxed neutral, and a feeling of warmth and fuzziness inside that this great club will turn it around at some point, at least reasonably soon, and be up on that podium again.

Rebuilding seems so much harder when compared to real glory, as opposed to other clubs constantly being mediocre, sneak finals then out next year, continued rebuilds.

Our average flag winning rate since 1961 suggests we might have to wait on average as long as another 3-4 years before even we're due to win another.

Got rid of Mitchell and Lewis last year, now which Hawthorn veteran can we trade for pick #90 ?

Lets not try out our immature natures girls and boys.
We keep using the term, old guard, we have some fabulous senior players who have given you folk and I entertainment and massive success, and they are still the same people.
To stay up at the level our club has is amazing. They are psychologically exhausted, but that too will ware off.
The above shoulders is something that can take a while, and Hawthorn never lack in how hard they try.
I 've heard some of the absolute bulldust from the "couch " and from 360, and really if you talked individually to each of our senior elite footballers they would tell you they are working on it.
You don't lose ability. But you do after years, get tired between the ears for a time.

I think that is what is happening this first 6 rounds, we Flayed the Eagles, its all there.

But if you have a down period in a game or your mind set goes off a bit , you will be kicked in the teeth by teams at this level. No inch is given, none can be given. As we've seen .We have done that this year.

Does anyone on BF Hawks think we are an 86 point worse team than Geelong , on a given day maybe if ever!
And it works both ways.
But we are not an 86 point worse team than the Suns. Think about it.

Last year we just made wins, lots close.
Everyone thought is this Clarko's way of running slowly into form, or are we getting found out, some even thought that it was Clarko's vision that finishing in the bottom 4 of the final eight was a tactic, NOPE!
What ever he said later!

Well as it turned out , it was a bit of both, we missed giving Sydney a thrashing , after one kick killed our year.
If we had have kicked it, can you imagine the mind set of those players looking at one more game then another GF AND A CHANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There would have been no psychological down turn last years GF if we made it.

But the extra game, well killed it couldn't do that extra, we simply had to beat Geelong and we were on a run when the siren went, and couldn't kick the main one, and Isaac Smith is a champion , there is no blame any where, Geelong were too good at certain times and we were too late! Simple.
But to me all that adds up to the "why bother " syndrome , we may be suffering this first third of the season.

I firmly believe we will get back on track, that does not mean we are definite's for a GF or even finals , but we will be rebuilding and re jigging our force, because we have a brilliant set of players older and new.

Just haven't put up yet.

THEY WILL , THEY'RE HAWKS!
