Just starting a thread to give this bloke some overdue praise, as it seems he gets very little (well not as much as he deserves) around here.

We have him in our BF POTY votes as joint second with Sandi and behind only Hase. Has he been that good? Yes he sure has, and probably our most consistent this year by some margin.

He is close to the most underrated player in the team, week in week out he gets the number 1 small forward and who is it we hear about? well it isnt Roger keeping the likes of The Daveys, Bodes, Betts' and such to one/two goals whilst setting up run/goals from the half back. I just couldnt imagine how much worse Freo would be with out him. He is one of the premier Back Pockets in the League with out doubt.

Well done Roger, great to see you are going to be at Freo for a few more years as well. I will always remember Phill Matera being his Bitch...

He probably would be on track for AA if he played for a Vic club. If he was a Pie he'd have full page feelgood articles written about his courageous comeback from his injury worries a few years back. Because he play's for Freo he probably won't get the recognition he deserves though. Still, we know how good he is and that's the main thing.

Makes too many skill errors but he's not alone in that area. Do like his endeavour though and it's a pity a few of the others didn't display the same.

I reckon his skills are pretty reliable - by our team's standards anyway. What I really love about Rog is his attitude towards the game. Always willing to run and create and take the game on. Tries to make things happen rather than sit back with the ball waiting for a sure option. We need a few more players like him willing to attack the game and take risks - we're far too stagnant in our play lately. Need to get our mojo back.

I think his skills are pretty good, but it's decision making that lets him down. Him coming back into the side last year was crucial in Freo's turnaround in form IMO. Is an underrated player no doubt, but I'm surprised he's been your equal second best player this year so far.

I'll meet you half way decision making and skill errors either way he does tend to do either or both at critical times. At least he has a crack for the duration of the game which is more than can be said for the likes of Headland.

Can we leave Headland out of at least one thread? This is a Hayden thread after all....

I dont know if I love it or hate it he always looks to be going in slow motion. Having said that, I dont think I've see him caught holding the ball.

I reckon Hayden is in our top 5 players, silky smooth and all the skills in the world.

As another post said, hardly gets caught with the ball ...

Your a jet Rog !!!!:thumbsu:

I spose that made last week tackle one pf the best of the year.

Onya Rog legend in the making:thumbsu::thumbsu: one of our best

I disagree. I think he has been one of our best this year, if not the best. He must be right up there for a doig so far this year.

Rog has been great since coming back from his broken leg. My only criticism of him would be that he doesn't always take the first option. He lets himself down by trying to do too much sometimes out there, but his flair and ball use is second to none.
