David Haynes was best on ground at CHF as East Perth beat Swan Districts. I would be surprised if he din't get an Eagles call up next week. Jeremy Humm was very good and must be close to selection. Kane Munro and Dean Buszan played well too.
The other surprise was the delisted Paul Symmons who I have never seen play so well.
It was good to see passionate play and commitment after a gutless Eagles display. Perhaps Tony Micale has something Ken Judge hasn not!!!

Haynes was superb. He played a great game, and definately should get a call up to the seniors after todays display. Humm did also play well. buszan showed he can play. Won't be long before these guys get a go in the big league again.

Sheesh... BOG against the last placed Swan Districts you say? In the all conquering WAFL??? Yep, Grant (playing CHB) will have his hands full with young Haynes next week. I'm ringing Terry right now. :p

How many AFL listed players does the WAFL have playing, compared to the 150 odd in the VFL? What type of 'players' were these kids yuou mentioned playing against today?

In all seriousness, Frodo, reserves form means NOTHING. Jack shlt. We've got fringe players like Alvey, Contessa and Dooley and other youngsters who get best on grounds WEEK IN WEEK OUT in the VFL. Dooley has even won a couple of Best and fairest's for the whole VFL comp.... but failed miserably when asked to step up to AFL. They get selected for the seniors, and struggle to get a single kick. It isn't any different for any other team. The gap between the second rate reserves and AFL is mammoth. By all means, look at them and hope, but don't expect that these blokes will suddenly bring success for the senior team just because they're doing well in the WAFL!

As for your remark on the coach.... good ol' Chris Bond (remember that Fremantle gun?) is at the head of our VFL team... coached them to an unbeaten run all season with a percentage in the mid 100's.... geeze .... that record is better than Wallace's..... why don't we replace him too? ;) :p

Westy,
I'm not suggesting Tony Micale takes over at the Eagles. What I am saying is that after a season and a third of Ken Judge I have seen demotivation, undiscipline and lack of commitment unlike at any time under Mick Malthouse. I also question Judges tactical ability. If Wallace turned teams out like then you would likely feel the same. The fact is best shown by the bulldogs who are very short of skill but make up for it with connitment and ferocity.

David Haynes has played 8 full Eagles games last season where he did reasonablt well, the fact that I saw him play very well and that he has developed further is extremely noteworthy for this site.
If you don't want to praise your Bulldogs youngsters on your board that is your choice buut don't presume to come onto our board and tell us what to do....ie rack off

Have you ever gone past the fact of what is happening, and instead consider why it is happening?

List your best five players (stars) and compare them to rival teams.

Now list your bottom five players in your 22 (depth), and compare that to rival teams.

Now list your injuries.

Voila, there’s WC’s problem.

How much of a difference would a Sheedy or Pagan have done with the list that Judge has to work with?

And another thing which doesn’t/has never existed at any other club- The ‘idea’ on which KJ was accepted into the position. Everyone has implied that he was employed almost purely as a recruiter/’rebuilder’. How do you expect a coach to work under those circumstances? EVERY single eagle’s supporter says “he’s only here ‘til Woosha comes back”. With that attitude, he was destined to fail. It doesn’t have to be explicitly implied- he isn’t stupid - he knows the supporters feelings and it will play in his mind, thus, affecting his performance. Fancy that- recruiting someone on the basis of purely ‘rebuilding’ as opposed to success on the field.... and people expect miracles from him.

I remember when you beat us in a practise match earlier in the year, I looked at your forum and some bloke sent KJ a letter along the lines of “We’ll remember you for the team you’ve built when we’re successful with a better coach”. How is he meant to perform when he reads shlt like that? Put yourself in Judge’s shoes.

Passion and motivation isn’t the problem…. Any team which doesn’t have confidence in their own ability are going to drop their heads when they’re losing. How do you get confidence? Not from some clichéd speech/’rev up’ before the match from Judge…. but by the players inherently knowing you can match it with the better teams, and the players having the pride in their jumper. Your supporters don’t show any confidence in the team (and are pretty brutal in their appraisals saying that they’re ashamed!), so how are the players meant to feel as if they can beat them? Take out the videos of the St Kilda and Fremantle matches …. Notice a difference in the players attitude in those matches? A little more passionate and committed? Funny that occurred when the players knew that they could match it with their opposition, isn’t it? Or was Judge suddenly a better coach on those particular days because the players looked more disciplined?

I can give you plenty of examples where we've played with no passion and discipline under Wallace... it happens and it isn't the end of the world..... but the difference is we know that we'll bounce back somehow. Everyone was writing us and North off two weeks ago... but we have the inner belief that we belong up there. We could lose by 10 goals this week and next, but still be confident our season isn't over. That kind of thing can't be drilled into a players head from a coach. The players have to feel it from within.... much like the Eagles of the early 90's.

Firstly, I’m not saying Hayne’s performance isn’t noteworthy. It’s important ... talk about it ... discuss it.... that’s what we’re doing here. All I’m doing, is giving my opinion that performances in the reserves aren’t a real indicator in the larger scheme of things, with examples from other teams. I’m in no way telling you what to do, just giving you an opinion. By all means, get your hopes up because he’s done well one week against the last placed team in a secondary competition. Don’t let me hold you back.

Secondly, like most bulldogs supporters, I post most of my feelings on our official forum- hence the lack of use of the Bulldogs team board. I know that most WC supporters hate /complain about theirs, and so post most of their thoughts here. That doesn’t make your board any more ‘special’. Why do you think that bigfooty is more popular than any other discussion site? Because the perspective/stirring from rival supporters was the premise it was built on. Rival supporters will always come in to team boards and either stir or give some constructive opinions. I would like to think that you believe that I’m doing the latter. But if you don’t, fair enough.

rack off

No. :p

Why though? Because I disagree with your opinion? Nah you're right ... let's all stick to our own boards... unless of course contributions on other boards consist of telling Fitzroy supporters that your board has more posts.

Anyway, if you don’t like any of my posts, for being abusive etc., “report that post to a moderator”. Or leave it to the moderator here. Go Eagles ... should I rack off? ;)

And with that dismissive attitude towards addressing your major problems and deficiencies, it's pretty obvious as to why your team is in the position it's in now. ;)

Yes I watched the game between East Perth and Swans and make the following comments.
David Haynes was best on ground, his best game this year and it could have been his best game ever for the Royals. He played as a link player between the backline and the forwards and appeared not to have been close checked at any stage.
Humm average game but must be close to get a game at the next level.
Munro did'nt play a full game and started on the bench was handy when he came on in the second half.
Buzsan played well in the first quarter and had a good duel with his Swans player, always goes hard at the ball.

The last time I heard the phrase 'rack off' was on Home and Away in 1989 :D

Getting back to the footy, I also watched the WAFL game on TV and was also impressed with David Haynes game. He seemed to be a lot more confident and stronger in his ability to dispose of the ball this year. Another player caught my attention from East Perth also, Kane Marsh. The kid kicked 3 goals in a fairly good performance - anyone know much about this player... would he be able to make the next step?

Kaine Marsh

As far as I know he came from Geelong, he played in there local league. He started playing for the Royals in 2000 and has played 18 games. As you said he is a bit of a goal kicker, plays as a rover and is a real hard at the ball player. He could be a chance to play AFL as he is only 23 years old. tjrra
