The idea put forward by a few people in the press is that we swap Heath Black for Matty Allen at Carlton. Could be a good swap, but I like Black. I just think he might be struggling for games in the midfield with us.

The idea of picking up Matty Allan isn't stupid, just the thought of trading Black for him. Like you I really rate Black. He is 10 times the player Allan is at this stage in thier careers. 1 is a 28 year old injury prone ruckman. The other is a 24 year old crack midfielder who had a bad second half of the season. IF Black gets traded like is being reported then I hope we get more for him than Matty Allan.

Okay, everything you said is right. Only I can't see Black getting a run. Powell has regained his spot and rightfully so. I think Grant is more interested in developing Del Santo and Ball then giving Black more of a run.
I agree, Black is too good to let go, but the question is will he want to stay. If not, then let's get the best trade we can. I thought Allen because he is a ruckman and I believe a good ruckman.

Get rid of Blackie. He has very good skills but we have more than enough players of his type and size, highly skilled, younger, cheaper...let him go back west, we can trade him.
He is no longer of any use to the club, if he were, he should have squeezed into the seniors at some stage in the last few games..!!!
He only gets rough at training; that's like fighting with your brothers...it's easier than picking a fight with someone at a nightclub.
