Do you know how hot it was over in France? The highest was like 42 or something like that, and i think one of the highest temperatures in England for a long while was like around 38! I mean 38 would be normal in the peak of summer over here, and 42 wouldn't be out of place either. There definetly wouldn't be any old people dying here as we are more accustomed to the heat.

we have dry summers down here, whereas in the northern hemisphere they have humid summer, which is a killer~

Nah well i was born in Malaysia and came here when i was 8, so i have experienced both the dry and humid summers, so i know what you are talking about and they can be killers the humidity. Good thing is that i am used to it all and won't be dropping off like with those French.

I was in Holland during a hotspell and there were a couple of things I noticed. First of all many of the cities are fairly built-up without a heap of greenery and they 'retain' heat more than our cities do.

Also very very few houses have air-conditioning. Even the hotel I stayed at didn't have air-con. There was no point in having it for the 4-5 days a year that it was needed. Part of the reason that whole outdoor-cafe culture took off is because it was impossable to stay indoors in summer.

Gee, no wonder those Europeans are struggling to cope!

for some reason, the summer in both europe and asia are very hot this year, I reckon we will get a very hot summer too.

Good! I love hot summers :) hehe

I tell you what ir's horific here in London, the body count is huge, you can't even take a walk down to the deli without clambering over dead old people, they're just shoving them in body bags & flipping them onto the backs of trucks with blokes ringing bells & shouting 'bring out yer dead', the stock market has taken a massive turn upwards as it's helping to deal with our ageing population problem.

There's talk of the Government putting a prohibitive tax on air conditioners just so none of the cunning old blighters try to escape the misery.

i post an article, and you call me an idiot....very nice....do you have a reason for that, or are we just listen to an arseh*le make wind?

Let's see here:

There are too many people in this world. Any reduction in the numbers of our species has to be good.

seems like it has reached 5000.

talk about french fries.

You're an idiot.

Not at all... but your ethics are questionable.

and the latter is called a pun, or play on words.

What is your problem?

Your puns aren't funny, and I'm in a bad mood right now, so I'm taking it out on you for posting stupidity.

We've had temperatures of about 40 C with humidity heat index of 43.5 C for quite a while now. Sucks when you first get in your car, but not too bad other than that.

In defense of the French (did I really just say that?) they don't get heat like that. The majority of their structures aren't built to shed as much heat, and central air conditioning is uncommon by comparison.

Over the Summer, I've had friends and family come into town from Wisconsin, New York and the Czech Repulic. All complained that they were going to die from what I considered normal-terrible heat. It's what you're used to.

Also, gomers with poor circulatory conditions and other ailments secondary to aging cannot regulate their body temperatures as well. I read that France hasn't seen this kind of heat in over 100 years.

Tragic.

my ethics arnt in question at all. I am not killing french, nor am i suggesting they should be killed.

i have done nothing wrong ethically.

i couldnt give a flying **** if you are in a bad mood. If you consider my puns to be unfunny, fine. you are a w*nker if you think calling me an idiot is going to change that.

My post has been purely factual. yours are just pathetic attempts at name calling. Surely you can do better than that.

perhaps we should be curbing the birth rate, as opposed to rejoicing those that die.
PS: French Fries - LOL :p

Look at your reply to mantis. That says it all really. If you think that people need to be "eliminated" because YOU think that the world is too populated, then your ethics ARE in question. You are the one who blantantly stated this... so five thousand people died and that means it's good because Earth is overpopulated? This is why your ethics are in question, and this is exactly the reason why I'm calling you an idiot.

you are a w*nker if you think calling me an idiot is going to change that.

I'm not here to change anything, I am merely pointing out your idoicy.

My post has been purely factual.

What, this:

There are too many people in this world. Any reduction in the numbers of our species has to be good.

Utter BS. Care to back your statement up here with some evidence? Even if there are too many people on this planet, why would five thousand people dying of heatstroke make a difference? And why 'should' they die, because you think the planet can't support them and we're better off without them? Absolute rubbish.

yours are just pathetic attempts at name calling.

You deserve to be called names when you joke about death (well, in this case). I'm all in for French jokes, but if you're joking about five thousand people dying (and being serious about 'human reduction being good') then you're an idiot in my book.

Surely you can do better than that.

Why can't you talk this over yourself?
