No one is making excuses, injuries may or may not have been a contributing factor, however the only thing that does matter is the better team on the night won.

How could Footscray make the finals when there is no team called "Footscray". The Western Bulldogs however did not make finals and the Saints did and that is all there is to it.

I'd hardly call it panic stations. Saints were only on their 2nd crack at the flag, and had the year from hell re.injuries.

Will be another year more experienced next year(obviously), and primed to go all the way.

Saints - 2nd consecutive wasted yr

How was last year a wasted year? We got to the finals, which was always our aim. I thought this year we should have won the flag and midway through the season it looked wasted, until we had a remarkable run of form. Next year could be the last for players like Harvey, Powell, Gehrig, Thompson, Peckett, so we need to make sure we utilise the service that those players have left in them.
