Why are people wanting him dropped? In the 2 games hes played he has played 2 very good games. His disposal has been spot on and his polish is something we need. IMO was in our best 6 players yesterday what are other people thoughts and reasons for wanting him drop other than the usual, well we've got to drop someone because we lost.

my main critisism is he doesnt attack as much he seems to be really defensive, i think he is still under the knife when campo and JJ come back, everyone bags campo but honestly i think he will fit into our new game plan better then anyone. his best asset is his kicking, always has been a great kick. he and JJ will both come back into the side soon. i cant really find many people to be dropped. NLM is still going to come back in. the obvious drop is dyson, perhaps jetta although he has played well in the first two games. sadly although he hasnt done much wrong i think heffernan will be dropped when JJ, NLM, campo and welsh are ready.

Heff will be dropped simply because he is older... and therefore as said before is pretty much competing with campo and johnson... Shame really because i really like heff.

I don't think he should be dropped, he's a great tackler, Disposal is magnificent and as Longy said he shows great composure. He'd be our #1 tagger woudln't he? I think he's ahead of Campo to tell you the truth, he's all attacking and not very defensive which is why id rather heff.

Slattery is our number one tagger at the moment.

He's servicable but he could have been much more......Whoever turned him into a defender can take the blame. Was a brilliant goalkicking wingman at u'18 level but seems to have lost all his attacking nous. He's our best run with player at the minute and by some distance.

He's behind Slattery. Slattery took Simpson right out of the game yesterday, Heff didn't really even have a run with job. He just rotated through the middle.

The person to blame for turning into a defender, is the bloke that made him a vital cog in a Premiership side, playing exactly that role.

doesn't mean hes slow, he can be quite quick and def doesn't mean he can't deliver the sherrin lace out to our leading fowards.

He still would have been a vital cog, just a more damaging one. I suppose you really needed to see him play as a junior to realise what im on about.

Did he ever, he took him to the cleaners, and he'll only get better. I wonder how he wouldv'e squared up against someone like Murphy....hmmmm maybe we'll find out come rd 20!

I did see him and I don't completely disagree.

When he was developing, we didn't need it from him, but he did it when he had to. We had Caracella, Long, Blumfield, Bewick, JJ, Rama, among others who could kick goals from the midfield.

I suppose to be fair to the coaching staff most kids thrive on new challenges, but in our efforts to teach a footballer accountability we seem to have robbed him of some of his best attributes. Not all footballers respond to the O'Donnell and Ratten etc style development.

Id have Heff over Campo any day of the week.

Heff is arguably our best tackler and seeing how our new game plan seems to be built around tackling hard I think Heff is an integral part of the team.

Taking nothing away from Heff, but Id say Davey has Heff covered for tackling already in his short AFL career.

So? You need more than one good tackler in the team and they play completely different roles. Davey is a half forward where as Heffernan iss an onballer. Davey shouldn't even be considered for a midfield roles he's just way too small.

That's what defensive midfielders are paid to do. We have enough attacking midfielders, so we need someone who can hurt going the other way. There's no point having only attacking mids, coz then we're stuffed when the oposition has the ball.

Yet, he can be found taking players on just forward of the centre square...unless it was another Davey I saw yesterday. Davey will get better, Heff wont.

Davey was lost when he went up th feild and has to small a body to play that role. And btw they arent the same types of players so why is this even being discussed?

heff handles pressure better then anyone else on our list - and thats a big deal especially when the guy is under soo much pressure... he delivers the ball beautifully and has good vision / decision making... 18 touches and great tackling pressure is good enough for me - he's doing it all at the moment - with limited game time!!... plenty of guys should go out before him based on form..
