Helicopter at Waverley

Can someone confirm this for me .

Was it 1996 pre-season final at Waverley against the Scum , which we won.

H & C had played Holy Grail , Fireworks on a breathlessly still warm night.

I had pretty good seats and by the time the fireworks were over you couldn't see 30m onto the ground due to the smoke.

Game delayed due to visibility . Enter the channel 7 chopper which hovered moving around the ground for (I want to say 15 minutes) to disperse the smoke. It's main rotor , when it became visible to us would have been at the same level we were.

Over the years, I don't recall reading anything more or even seeing a clip of this .

no idea if the game was delayed. good if it was though as i arrived a minute in having rushed from a baseketball final! We had purchased our tickets six hours earlier. Great day.

Oh, and we won basketball as well...

I seem to recall the smoke from the fireworks (which were pretty good) took quite a while to clear, but I don't remember a chopper being required to clear it.

Got the video at home - I might have to upset the missus and watch it again some day.

That match should be mandatory viewing for all St Kilda supporters!!!

Posted this in a few places ,, Coulda sworn it was that game but even though someone remembered the H & C and the smoke ,, no-one remembered the chopper.

It was a bizarre thing indeed ,

I really must have the wrong game.
