Help me choose

OK so bday is coming and ive got the choice to get 2 out of these 3 games.

Help me choose the 2 im so torn

1 - At the gates of Loyang
2 - Merkator
3 - Escape: The curse of the temple

Leaning towards 1+3 but Merkator does look oretty nice too

Haven't played any of those sorry.

After having a quick read about them, i like the sound of Escape the most. Looks fun!

I own and have played all three. I guess it depends on what your game group is like. Escape is very light and chaotic, but non-gamers like it in my experience. It's filler, really in a big box. Merkator is dense and generally considered a disappointment, but I quite like it for what it is. It's a moderately brain burning game, solid mechanically. Gates of Loyang is a great 2 player game, has a good theme and AFAIK is out of print. It's a bit lighter than Merkator but has a cool drafting mechanic.

If I was to rate which ones I get the most out of I would say GoL, Merkator, Escape - but I tend to be a bit more of a 'serious' gamer.

Ended up ordering Escape and GoL. Mostly play with family with the occassional visit from the boys for some serious fun. Still like the look of Merkator though might try trade for a copy somewhere, why cant i just have them all LOL.
