I'm thinking about getting a pocket PC - the new Toshiba e750 looks quite good and uses the new Windows Mobile 2003.

I don't know an awful lot about PDAs, so anyone have any thoughts about what to look for or not to, or specifically on the Toshiba e750?

TIA.

And by that, Zeke simply means "you can't sync it easily with Macs" :)

Re: your original question... As with everything else, "it depends".

PalmOS is more lightweight than PocketPC - IMHO it's less bloated, and is well supported. Palm devices are also TYPICALLY slimmer and lighter than PocketPC.

On the other hand, PocketPC devices tend to have a bit more functionality built in. mp3 players, movie players, portable versions of word, excel etc.

The question you have to ask yourself is "what do I want to use this for?"

If you want an all-in-one solution that plays media files, keeps your schedule and has features galore, get one of the PocketPC devices. If you're after a more simple scheduling tool, stick with a Palm. I have a Handspring Treo (which is basically a phone/PalmOS PDA), and I don't even use half its meagre features. Keeps track of my meetings, contacts etc and that's it.

For reviews of individual devices, try looking at zdnet.com.au or cnet.com etc and see how you go.

Thanks Des - I was having a look at ZDNet. I like the idea of cut down versions of Word and the like for synchronising with my PC. I also need something to keep contol of my contacts and appointments, which I know I could use a Palm for. I'll have to give it some more thought as to how much use I will get from the extra functions.
