Help PS3/LCD problem

I have just bought a 2nd LCD for the PS3 and computer same as the one I had but a little smaller and the PS3 works and I can play games but the PS3 menu will not display. Once you insert a disc the game comes on but if there is no disk in the PS3 or you quit game the menus do not display. The PS3 is still working as I was able to load a demo on to it buy remembering how to select it with out viewing it and once i selected it the game came on. Its like its on and working but for some silly reason it wont display the menus on the LCD. The error says "Mode not supported"

Please if anyone can help me I owe you a beer.

Thanks for that but no, thats not it. Basically it will play and display games but will not display the PS3 menus very frustrating. Its like it thinks the PS3 is off but its just in the menu mode. Not sure if its the PS3 or the LCD but I move it back into the lounge room and it works perfect.

It's more than likely a problem with the LCD. I believe the PS3 only supports 2 different resolutions, not sure how it works in the games/menu context though.
