The family of our very own number 30 Stephanie Wales and the Hawks own Number 31 Lucy Wales need some help.
Steph and Lucy’s 21yo brother had an accident in Italy last weekend. Unfortunately the news from the family is not good.
A relative of the family has set up a GoFundMe page as per below.
Caroline is noted as the beneficiary she is Cam, Steph and Lucy’s beautiful mum.

During the trip of a lifetime to Europe, Cameron Wales was visiting Florence when he suffered a tragic accident that has left him with a serious spinal injury. Cameron has sustained damage to his spine at C5 and C6 resulting in incomplete tetraplegia/quadriplegia. This injury means Cameron is unable to move from the waist down and his hands. This is devastating for Cameron and all those who know and love him. Due to his horrific injury the easy-going, friendly 21-year-old is now facing the possibility of not being able to do what he loves most: playing footy (Go the Mighty Dees), cricket and continuing his career as a carpenter.
Whichever road his recovery takes, we know there is a long and expensive path ahead for Cameron and his family – parents John and Caroline and siblings Brendan, Stephanie and Lucy, as they work towards him regaining as much independence as possible. Cameron is a strong and determined young man and with the love of his mates and family they will inspire him to embark on the arduous and long journey ahead of him. Firstly, to return home to Australia and then to maximise his rehabilitation.
So many of you have heard about Cameron’s dreadful accident and have reached out asking how you can help Cameron and his family, outside of your prayers. Cameron’s road ahead is challenging and uncertain, but whatever it holds, he will need our support. If you feel like the best way for you to support Cameron is with a financial donation, we know this will relieve some of the financial burden for him and will allow him to focus on his recovery. We expect this financial support will be for his hospitalization, and rehabilitation but also his new life beyond this devastating injury.
Thank you all for your support, prayers, and donations,
Christine Russell (Cameron’s Aunty) on behalf of the Wales Family.
