Ever since HS started charging for online content i have been a subscriber purely for the footy, sport and Supercoach. When i first signed up it was about $11 per month over time the price increased to $16 per month which i thought was stretching it but i continued as a subscriber.

Today i received this email.

Changes to your subscription
We are committed to continually improving your experience and sometimes this means increasing our prices. The price of your membership will change to $6.00 a week (billed as $24 every 4 weeks). This change will happen automatically from your first payment following 22 November, so you don't need to do a thing

An increase of 33% or $8 per month. I cancelled immediately. What a croc

Does any one else subscribe and do they think this increase is fair? I think theyve gone for too much or just hoping people dont read their emails.

There's a simple trick to get around this. Most of the articles you can access free by changing the "heraldsun" in the URL to "news" (works for other Murdoch-owned newspaper sites as well)

Once you reach your free limit you can just go into your cookies and delete the cookie named "heraldsun.com.au" and your limit is back to 0 again.

I think you can also use NT News and Perth Now as well (NT News has always been free, while they've lost the paywall battle in WA and are turning off the paywall).

I got way too involved in Supercoach this year and subscribed for the live scores and cancelled once the H&A season was over. I won't be doing that again if it's gone up to $6 a week.

The Age/fairfax is easy to get around. Just click on the stop button as soon as the page opens up. You may miss some photos but that's it.
