Hewitt v Roddick

Will be barracking for Lleyton, but have a feeling A-Rod will take him to the cleaners.

In fact, I reckon Roddick will beat Federer on Sunday!

Probably the question is "who will lose to Federer". Hewitt can't keep relying on his spirit and emotional to get him through. Let's hope he dosen't have a letdown anytime soon after what's happened over the last 4 days. His records good against Roddick but given his physical condition I'm really not sure.

I am a Hewitt fanatic but I would be more confident a year in advance of him winning in 2006 than him winning from this stage this year as funny as it sounds! You need to have relatively short matches leading up to these quarters, semis and finals. It is proven. Hewitt hasnt had that luxury unfortunately.

If Hewitt was fully fit, he would beat him like he did at the Masters. The odds are against Lleyton, but if there is one person in the world who can win in the situation he is in, it's him. Let's hope Lleyton's injury is not too bad, because I think Hewitt would win if this does not trouble him.

What's the deal?

Hewitt owns Roddick, and injury premitting he should kick his ass.

Didn't you guys see the match at the Masters Cup? Hewitt destroyed Roddick when it came to the crunch.

Hewitt has a massive psychological edge over Roddick and there's no doubt that his best tennis (as long as he's not hobbling around the court) will get him over the line.

I'm shocked by the lack of support for Hewitt.

Roddick is completely one-dimensional and has been flattered by the draw this year. Who has he beaten? No-one.

Hewitt is battle-hardened and won't give Roddick an inch.

Get behind Rusty, because he's got a date with the Big Russian on Sunday.

I'd like to see that happen..but its not about head to heads all the time. Hewitt IMO played crap tennis for a majority against Nalbandian. One break each set should seal his fate..but i'd want hewitt to win.

Roddick completely unimpresses me, i call him a soft c ock. Over rated in the extreme, will never be a tennis great imo.

Cant see him getting past hewitt who is definitely shortening for his first open title.

hewitt to mentally strong, in 4 sets....

and hopefully 15,000 aussies letting that yank know he is on our turf and give him ********ing truckloads of it....

cant beat knocking off a yank i reckon in sport, lets face it the poms expect to to lose but the septics whole different kettle of fish, cocking bastards.....

while i dont find Hewitt endearing or up to the same sportsman ship that our other tennis greats have shown over their careers, but you have to admire the fighting quality this guy has got.....

and this is what will win him the match.... mentally strong and the capacity and will to win.....

With Federer's "early" exit, Hewitt can now sense a golden opportunity to win the title infront of his crowd. Here's why I think he will beat A-Rod:

Have a look at the players Hewitt has played. I would say all of them are as good and in some cases better with their ground strokes than Roddick. Yet Roddick has better ground strokes than everyone he's played. This could work in Hewitt's favour and we might see some average shots from Roddick. Secondly, just have a look at Hewitt's hunger. He's been on a emotional rollercoaster from day 1 in this tournament. He won't back off now. The only thing to worry about with Hewitt is his injury (I'm not so worried about his fitness). Hopefully it stays "managable" for a few more days.

I am trying to be as positive as i can..just cant see hewitt win this one though.Hopefully i am wrong but roddick's big serve is a problem.Taylor dent used it exceptionally well against lleyton in adelaide to beat him.I still think hewitts got the upper hand in the rallies, but roddick's 1 serve % will decide this game
