Richmond utility Rory Hilton has been the only player to pay the price for the Tigers’ disgraceful performance against Essendon last week.

Hilton was tonight dropped from the Richmond line-up for Saturday’s MCG clash against Melbourne after managing only seven kicks and one handpass in the 52-point loss to the Bombers.

He was dropped to make way for the returning Mark Chaffey, who played all 25 games for the Tigers last year but is yet to play this season after suffering from osteitis pubis during the pre-season.

However Chaffey was outstanding in the VFL last week for Coburg and was an automatic inclusion tonight along with forward Ezra Poyas.

Poyas, who has played just six games for the Tigers but did play in last year’s preliminary final loss in Brisbane, took 17 marks and kicked five goals in the VFL last week and comes into the side for injured spearhead Matthew Richardson.

Melbourne, in contrast, made no change after beginning the season with wins over last year’s finalists Hawthorn and Port Adelaide.

Rogers should be played up forward as a permanent forward crummer where he has had success in the past.

Hilton needed a foot up the backside and I hope Coughlan plays well this week for Coburg and makes it tough for Rory to get back in.

Have to agree about Rogers. When he plays up the ground he causes me enormous stress. Everytime he gets the ball in space he wheels onto his non preferred left foot and then its anyones guess where it goes. He turns over the ball a helluva lot by foot. However whenever he plays up forward and thus doesn't have to hit a target he goes OK. He has a happy knack of kicking goals. They're usually not pretty kicks though. He is a great exponent of the mongrel floater but more often then not they float through the big sticks. When he is up the ground however hitting a leading Richo on the chest proves difficult for him. How many times does a forward make a good lead only to watch a mongrel floater end up nowhere near him and in the hands of the opposition. In Matty's favour is the fact that he is hard (methinks this is why he is still in the side and Hilton is not) and does fight extremely hard to keep ball in forward line once its on the deck. If only he could take a grab overhead. He trys to mark everything on his chest.

make 'em all sit down and watch the Kangaroos play against Port Adelaide. The term 'manic attack on the football' springs to mind!

North - hard as nails. Tigers - soft as *****e!
