Too many people have taken the chance to rub salt into essendon supports wounds, tall poppy syndrome, get over it, they arent perfect and should be flamed for not being so.
Lloyd - very talented and is/will be a champion but logically you have to say he is soft compared to some other forwards
hird - one of the most skilled players in the afl, but will never be seen as a champion by 99% of people, because hes injured all the time and hardly ever plays.
as for someone foolishly saying that mcleod and harvey arent champion players. You have no idea.

99%??? I've told you a million times not to exaggerate.

For the record, ah_19, Hird is a champion under whichever criteria you choose to judge him.

Most thinking football followers will admit that anyone who wins:
a) The brownlow
b) Two premiership medals
c) The Norm smith and;
d) Captains the int rules side to straight sets victories in Ireland is a champion player.

Can Mcleod equal that list ????

Thanks for your "input" anyway.

Hird is clearly a champion. Lloyd may become a champion but it will be a while for the jury to be in.

'though on Arch's criteria Corey McKernan would be a champion as well (and there are few that put in him in that class). Medals (or b&f votes don't always tell the story)

Arch, I agree Hird is a champion player but I think you are a bit hard on Mcleod. Mcleod has won 2 Norm Smith Medals. That does prove that he can preform in the big games. As a Port supporter I know when we play the Crows Mcleod is the one player we have to stop because he can tear the oppisition apart in a matter of minutes with his brilliance.

I agree they are great and would Love to have them in my team.

McKernan finished on the same points as Hird and Voss in the '96 medal count and has won 2 premierships. His record is similar to Hird's in this regard (he would have been wel in the running for at least one Norm Smith)l

McLeod is clearly in the champion ranks. Without him and Jarman there would be no silverware in Adelaide from the national competition.

did corey win a brownlow or norm smith I didnt hear about ????

I must remember to keep up with the latest news mustn't I ???

im well aware of Coreys unfortunate (for him) brownlow situation that year- but point is, he got suspended, didnt win it, and doesnt have the medal. Same deal with Norm Smiths. I was responding to "behind the post" who said that by my criteria Corey would be a champion too, and I was illustrating that corey DOESNT fit that criteria. simple as that.

As for McLeod- I do agree he is a champion player, I was only responding to the original poster who says Mcleod is a champ while Hird is not, and I was just disproving that with a few facts.
