Why would Hird wont to coach this rable?????

I'd love Hird as a coach, Apperantly his not interested in coaching just yet. His a very smart bloke though, I think his alittle too smart to take on Richmond. lol

You heard it here first...Campbell will be our next coach. That's the inside word. Haven't got time to go into how I heard but I did hear it from a knowledgable person.

And don't bother looking to shoot me down...I am simply relaying what I heard. For what it's worth, I don't agree with it if it is in fact the case. I would prefer we go after someone who has come from a winning culture...Malthouse, Williams, Hardwick to name but 3.

You didnt say it first, I said it 3 weeks ago :p I will chuck my guts up if Campbell gets the senior coaching role beyond 2009. We will fail and in 2011 when everyone is expecting big things again we will be 1-5 going into round 7.

This club really shits me no end sometimes :thumbsd:

If campbell is coach my memberships are lost forever.

I too am pretty sure Campbell will be our next coach, possibly as soon as a month or so. If we're 2-9, 3-8, at mid-year he'll take over with a license to tank, old-boy Ratten-style.

Doesn't mean Hird is not the man we should be courting. I have no doubt his heart is still with Essendon and if he were to coach, he would greatly prefer the Bombers over any other side. But if I were Sheeds I'd be impressing on him the need to take chances as they arise - hell, even tell him to use the Richmond gig as a trial run for the Bummers if that's what it takes to get him. Knights has what - another year after this on his contract? Could easily be extended if they go all right this year. Take a couple of years at Tigerland Jim, to develop your coaching philosophy and show your ability.

And while you're at it, just maybe fall in love with Trent Cotchin, Brett Deledio and the boys and develop the desire to build your own team around them.

Do it Sheeds. The irony will be as deliciously thick as a deep-fried Mars Bar.

He'll be ready by the end of next season when the Essendon post is available again :thumbsu:

You can have Knights. lol

Apologies coach...I'll buy you a beer if he gets the post as an apology :thumbsu:

Apparantely Ken Hinkley (Geelong: asst coach 2004-09) has been the latest to be talked off

Has been an assistant at Geelong from 2002 onwards, record at Geelong since he has been there is 88-36-1
Also did one year under Malcom Blight in 2001

Has also coached minor leagues to premierships etc

Has a winning menatlity, is an unknown, has a face that will scare you...and more importantly has nothing to do with RFC!!!!

Throw him in the mix :thumbsu:

From what Hird was saying, he said he wouldn't be interested for at least another 5- 10 years.

But before Knights contract is out, we would have made him an offer he couldn't refuse.:p

Nothing to do with me...I'm just passing on what I was told by a pretty reliable source. And like I said, I also hope the "word" is wrong.

Name your source or it's bullshit.

Id love to see him throw his hat in the ring however there are only two fellas that can sit back and play the coaching merrygoaround like a poker hand and that is Buckley and Hird...unfortunately the stench of the joint would put these two off...dont discount any other **** though, there will be a queue from Punt rd to Flinders st jockeying for one of the choice jobs in the game:thumbsu:

Jimmy Hird and Kevin Sheedy at Richmond Who woulda thought ! :D:D:D

The mentor and his master at the helm of Tigerland! Would be a great mix!:thumbsu:

.

thats the only circumstances that WC should be in the job...give him a run at it and FWIW sooner rather than later

Wallace was a player who was tough at it and was involved in success.

He is also articulate.

Why do people assume that Hird or Buckley would automatically do a better job that Wallace. What attributes do they have that Terry doesnt have.

Wallace has the added advantage of the fact that he is nuts enough to want to coach and was in a hurry to do so. Hird looks as if he is going to play it carefuly.

Wallace looks better in every department to me except the fact that he has had four years at our club and Hird hasnt. I agree it will be hard to justify keeping Plough on after this year but what scares me is that these blokes dont look as if they are any better.

That's what I'm saying!!

You mean a puppet and his master?
Pfft. Hird is no one's puppet. Of the three great players/leaders in Hird, Voss, Buckley, he's the smartest.

They have only recently left the game. Wallace hasn't played for nearly 20 years and it shows.
