Hirdy's game

If the events of the week hadn't happened, you could almost claim that Hirdy was playing badly because he was match-fixing.

It seemed to me that he ran to the wrong spots where the ball was going, he looked disinterested and in parts lazy, and in no universe would Trent Sporn towel up James Hird one on one.

If you've seen the movie "Mean Machine", you could see that Hirdy was almost doing a Danny Meehan.

Either he was really affected by having to be the umpires puppet on the Footy Show (and really that's all he was, Vladimir had his hand right up Jim's rear end on Thursday), or he was told to play badly rather than cop a suspension which I would think they were pushing for.

That's the only reasoning I can find. James Hird just doesn't have a bad night.

I thought he just had a bad night. Really this mclaren thing is way over the top.

You can't expect him to thread 4 fantastic games in a row together at his age. His only human and has a few **** ones here and there. Like the port final last year.

As poor as a night as it was for Hirdy we'd be bloody happy if Reynolds or Richards had a game like that.

Hird's had his shockers....everyone does. Lloyd too.

A lot of them seem to happen against Carlton.

yeah he looked pretty tired/run down on the night.

However, he still ran > 7km. Mind probably just wasn't on the job.

Hopefully next week will be a different story.

quiet first half but I thought he was the major reason the game turned in our favour in the 3rd.
