Round 9: Essendon 48, Richmond 25
Round 8: Geelong 44, Richmond 15
Total: Opposition 144, Richmond 67

More than doubled.

Simmonds is getting more hitouts than Patto, but he's getting more game time. Simmo can be a very frustrating player, sitting on the wing getting cheap kicks, while Patto tries his arse off for less reward.

Simmo constantly jumped waaaay too early today, was on the way down at the apex of the balls bounce.

Admitedly Simmo gets pwned in the hitouts but was reading an interesting article about ruckmen in the age. There reasoning for Simmon jumping early is its on purpose in an attempt to negate the opposition ruckmen. Also interestingly enough before today anyway richmond were the no 1 scoring team from stoppages.

Patto has been in better form than Simmo the past couple of weeks. Simmo has been shit IMO.

Agreed. Patto has a lion heart and has a crack all day. He doesnt stop trying no matter what the score is.
Simmo on the other hand has a pea heart and is as inconsistent as anyone.

both patto and simmo havent done well in the hit outs, neither seem to venture to the backline or forward to assist with their extra height, which is always left to richo to do all the work.

Rucks are still a problem even with our top 2 choices. Need to bring in a young ruck next year who can step right into our side. Not going to be easy to find.

Its gonna have to be Gus or Putt. Hopefully we can grab a quality ruckman at pick 5 or 6 in the draft.

dunno if anyone has seen this but before today simmonds was 2nd for us in clearances (i'm 90% sure). So even though he loses hit outs he does the work on ground level to make upo for it

Simmonds has a habit of jumping early.Watching dvds of our games this year it is very clear.I dont blame Simmonds so much because one thing i've noticed about Richmond is that we have players who are gap-fillers.They arent genuine players for their positions.Who is our CHF or FF?We dont know because we dont have a genuine one.We are just trying this person and that person.
Simmonds isnt a genuine ruckman to me.We need to develop players who are perfectly matched to the positions they play.

Can't fault the effort of Simmo and Patto around the ground...most of the time, but the stats in this case don't lie, we are getting slaughtered by opposition ruckman. More importantly how many of the meagre number of hitouts we accumulate actual go to advantage????

Don't think a draft pick is going to help in the next 3-4yrs unless we stumble upon a freak.

Is there another Jolly out there we could pick up in the draft. I know Warnock was mentioned a few weeks ago but he can't even get a regular game at Freo which says a lot. Any other options?????
