Actually, let's look at who does well AWAY, then we'll see who REALLY relies on winning at home.

I wonder how many Pies "away" wins were at the MCG?

Wouldn’t the variance between away win % and home win % make more sense?

The numbers shown can be partly attributed to good and bad teams, not just home and away.

A team that wins 70% at home and 50% away, would seem to have a HGA greater than a team that wins 30% at home and 30% away.

Spot on - one sided stats are meaningless.

Since 2007, our win rate away from home is better than the overall win rate of any other club during that time.
We've finished top 4 on 15 occasions since 2007 due to being a great side that wins everywhere, not because of home ground advantage.

Given there are no dates I am taking the graph to be from 2016-25. Note: I am also disregarding games during covid hubs where they were listed as the away team, unless they were playing a home club. Eg. Brisbane at the gabba.

Overall: 64 - 47 - 2 (113) = 56.6%
Pies away - MCG excluded: 38 - 28- 1 (67) = 56.7%
Pies away - MCG games: 26 - 19 - 1 (46) = 56.5%

Super consistent and absolutely no difference at the G or not as the away club.

Also finished top 4 in 2004 as well. Everyone forgets about that and if not for Nick Davis in 2005 they would have made another preliminary final.

Its frightening how much the last 5 years has decimated our overall win loss %. We used to be one of the highest, now we're about 50% all time, so us being down there does not surprise me.

Historically we've done alright in Adelaide and Brisbane - regardless of ladder position - but struggled in Sydney (haven't beat the Swans at the SCG this century!), and of course Geelong. Used to struggle at the MCG until we moved to Optus, and do better at Marvel.
