OK, I am having a frustrating issue with my home network that I can't figure out. I have some ideas but was hoping someone on here would understand the problem a bit better.
I am running two routers at home.
So far, all of this works fine.
The problem.
When I am viewing a video from the NAS on the TV Lives, I am not able to browse the internet via the other router without causing the video to freeze up.
This I don't understand as I believe that the switching should be done locally at each router and so it should go..
Internet > Billion Router > Laptop
NAS > Linksys Router > WD TV Live
.. and they should have no impact on each other. Apparently though, this is not the case.
My thoughts
Is it possible that it is caused by them all being on the same subnet?
Billion Router = 192.168.1.254
Linksys Router = 192.168.1.100
ReadyNAS = 192.168.1.114
If I were to make the Linksys router say, 192.168.2.100, and the ReadyNAS 192.168.2.114, should that help deal with it?
I am running two routers at home.
- A Billion Bipac 7402 VGP - This is my main modem/router and connects to my Naked DSL.
- A Linksys WRT54GL - This is running TomatoVPN firmware, and manages a VPN to the US. I use the VPN to access Netflix on two Western Digital TV Live boxes that are connected wirelessly to this router.
So far, all of this works fine.
